There's More to Financial Analysis Than Getting the Numbers Right

A spreadsheet can tell you how a business performed last quarter. What it can't always tell you is why things changed, what risks might be coming, or which opportunities are worth pursuing.

That's where good financial analysis makes a difference.

At Oakspire Capital, we're looking for a Financial Analyst who enjoys working with numbers but also understands the bigger picture behind them. Someone who asks questions, spots patterns, and can turn complex financial information into something useful for making decisions.

You'll work with financial data, forecasts, and performance reports to help evaluate opportunities, understand business performance, and support sound financial planning.

What You'll Spend Your Time Doing

This role combines detailed financial work with broader business analysis. You'll be expected to understand the numbers, explain what they mean, and help identify where attention is needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial models, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Analyzing financial statements, budgets, and operating performance.
  • Reviewing revenue, expenses, profitability, and financial trends.
  • Conducting variance analysis to identify differences between actual and projected results.
  • Supporting investment evaluations and financial due diligence.
  • Researching market conditions, industry developments, and potential financial risks.
  • Preparing financial reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
  • Working with internal teams to gather financial information and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records, models, and supporting documentation.

What You'll Bring to the Team

We're looking for someone who is comfortable working with financial information, pays attention to the details, and can explain their findings without making things unnecessarily complicated.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, investment analysis, or a similar role.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
  • A solid understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience analyzing financial performance and identifying trends.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills and confidence presenting financial findings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
  • A practical, organized approach to your work.

A Few Things That Would Be Helpful

  • Experience in investment management, financial services, or corporate finance.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other financial reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of valuation methods, discounted cash flow analysis, and investment metrics.
  • Experience supporting financial due diligence or investment decisions.
  • Progress toward a CFA, CPA, or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience working with financial databases or enterprise reporting systems.

The Difference You'll Make

Good financial analysis isn't just about producing accurate reports. It's about helping people understand what's happening and what they should pay attention to.

In this role, you'll have opportunities to look beyond routine reporting, investigate financial questions, and contribute ideas that support better decisions.

We value people who are curious, willing to challenge assumptions, and comfortable taking responsibility for their work.

You won't be expected to have every answer immediately, but you should know how to find the information, test your thinking, and communicate what you've learned.

Benefits & Development

Proposed benefits include:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Professional development and certification support
  • Opportunities for career advancement
  • Collaborative and supportive working environment
