Role Overview
The HR Manager will lead Finko MicroFinance’s human resources operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll coordination, statutory compliance, learning and development, and HR policy implementation.
The role requires a practical HR professional who understands the workforce requirements of an NBFC or financial-services business and can support employees working across corporate, branch and field operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesTalent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
- Work with management and department heads to prepare manpower plans.
- Manage recruitment for corporate, branch, credit, collections, sales, operations and field positions.
- Develop reliable recruitment channels for high-volume and specialised roles.
- Conduct interviews, coordinate selection and complete background and reference checks.
- Prepare offer letters, employment agreements and joining documentation.
- Monitor recruitment turnaround time, joining ratios and cost per hire.
Employee Onboarding and Documentation
- Manage joining formalities and employee induction.
- Ensure that employee records and statutory documents are complete and current.
- Coordinate role-specific training for newly hired employees.
- Maintain accurate employee data in the HR management system.
- Manage confirmations, transfers, promotions and employee separations.
Performance Management
- Implement a structured performance-management process aligned with company objectives.
- Coordinate goal setting, probation reviews and periodic performance evaluations.
- Support managers in documenting performance feedback and improvement plans.
- Monitor employee productivity and performance trends.
- Ensure that incentives and performance outcomes follow approved company policies.
Employee Relations and Engagement
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and workplace matters.
- Promote a professional, ethical and inclusive work environment.
- Plan employee-engagement, recognition and retention initiatives.
- Support managers in handling disciplinary matters and grievances fairly.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyse the principal causes of employee turnover.
HR Policies and Compliance
- Develop, implement and periodically review HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian labour and employment laws.
- Coordinate compliance relating to provident fund, ESIC, professional tax, gratuity, bonus, leave, minimum wages and other applicable requirements.
- Support compliance under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act and coordinate Internal Committee requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll and disciplinary information.
- Coordinate with legal advisers, consultants and auditors during statutory reviews.
- Support management in maintaining suitable staffing, training and conduct standards for an RBI-regulated NBFC.
Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Verify attendance, leave, new joiners, separations, incentives and payroll inputs.
- Coordinate monthly payroll processing and resolve payroll-related discrepancies.
- Administer employee insurance, statutory benefits and other company benefits.
- Ensure timely full-and-final settlements and issuance of relieving documents.
- Maintain appropriate payroll records and management reports.
Learning and Development
- Identify skill gaps in consultation with department heads.
- Prepare and implement an annual training calendar.
- Coordinate training on products, customer service, collections conduct, data privacy, information security, prevention of fraud and regulatory compliance.
- Develop leadership and managerial capabilities within the organisation.
- Measure training attendance, completion and effectiveness.
HR Reporting and Analytics
- Prepare regular reports on headcount, vacancies, hiring, attendance, attrition, productivity and employee costs.
- Track key HR metrics and recommend corrective action.
- Support annual budgeting for manpower, recruitment, training and employee benefits.
- Provide accurate workforce information for management reviews and audits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline.
- MBA, PGDM or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory employment requirements.
- Familiarity with HR management systems, payroll processes and Microsoft Office.
Experience
- Approximately 2–10 years of progressive experience in human resources.
- At least 2 years of experience in an HR managerial or team-lead role.
- Experience in an NBFC, bank, microfinance institution, fintech company or financial-services organisation is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting branch or geographically distributed employees would be beneficial.
- Exposure to high-volume recruitment for sales, credit, collections or field operations is desirable.
