Salary: £45,000 per annum

Hours: 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 06:00-22:00

Location: First Fence Ltd, Unit 8-17 Sandhurst, Canvey Island SS8 0QY

Position:


As an Assistant Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of depot activities providing essential support to the Depot Manager to ensure operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and the timely dispatch of goods. You will be responsible for helping manage a team, optimising processes, and ensuring a safe, well organised working environment while working collaboratively with other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Work closely with our customer services & sales team, assisting them with enquiries, orders relating to the operational side.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with stock control and inventory management, including receiving booking in purchase orders, stock take, and conducting regular stock checks and identifying any discrepancies.
  • Depot Operations: Support the Depot Manager in overseeing the smooth running of depot operations, whilst maintaining a clean and safe working environment within the depot.
  • Transport Operations: Assisting with the routing of deliveries, to ensure they are cost effective and on time and ensuring compliance with all relevant transport regulations.
  • Health and Safety: Adhering to all health and safety regulations and procedures, enforcing them to promote a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Managing People: Supporting the Depot Manager in managing the performance of depot colleagues, providing support and guidance as well as identifying training needs.
  • Employee Relations: Address any employee concerns, resolving any workplace issues by being a point of call and collaborating with all, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements:


How you’ll do it:

  • You will process orders and deliveries accurately and efficiently, on time.
  • You’ll be able to handle customer complaints professionally and promptly.
  • You will ensure the accurate and timely recording of all stock movements.
  • You’ll be available to open and close the depot where required.
  • You will communicate effectively with drivers and customers regarding delivery schedules.
  • You will ensure all compliance issues are addressed and hazards are reported.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, proactively managing accounts and making outbound calls.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection processes.
  • Assist with the monitoring of KPI’s to identify areas of improvement.
  • Assisting with the implementation of company policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience:

  • FLT License essential
  • Experience and understanding of managing HR issues and e.g., performance, return to work meetings, etc
  • Proven ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • SAP experience would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage changes
