**Job Overview**
DWELR is building a residential intelligence platform designed to make the rental housing market more transparent, accountable, and easier to navigate. Our platform brings together tenant\-submitted reports, verified residency information, public records, property data, landlord and property\-management information, and AI\-powered analysis to help people better understand rental properties and housing conditions.
We are seeking a **Full Stack Software Engineer** to help build, improve, and scale the technology behind DWELR. In this role, you will work across the front end, back end, database, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and third\-party integrations. You will help develop both the existing DWELR platform and future products, including our planned AI Powered residential intelligence and property\-risk analysis systems.
This is an early\-stage startup role with meaningful ownership. You will not be limited to maintaining one small part of a large application. You will help design features, make technical decisions, solve real product problems, and take functionality from initial concept through production deployment.
You will collaborate with DWELR’s leadership, product, design, data, AI, trust and safety, and operations teams to build secure and dependable experiences for renters, rental\-property owners and managers, housing professionals, government partners, and institutional customers.
**What You Will Work On**
Depending on company priorities and your areas of expertise, your work may include:
* Tenant reporting, review, and residency\-verification workflows. * Rental\-property, landlord, property\-management company, and neighborhood profiles. * Property search, filtering, maps, geolocation, and address\-matching systems. * Landlord and property\-manager account claiming and verification. * Review\-response, dispute, correction, and evidence\-submission workflows. * Subscription, payment, billing, and account\-management features. * Administrative tools for moderation, trust and safety, data quality, and customer support. * Public\-record and municipal\-data integrations. * Notifications, alerts, saved properties, and property\-monitoring tools. * Dashboards for renters, property owners, government partners, and institutional customers. * Data infrastructure supporting AI powered intelligence systems. * AI\-assisted search, document analysis, evidence retrieval, summarization, and residential intelligence features. * Internal systems that help DWELR review evidence, track data provenance, and maintain reliable property records.
**Responsibilities**
* Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain full\-stack features across the DWELR platform. * Develop responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces using modern JavaScript and TypeScript technologies. * Build and maintain backend services, serverless functions, APIs, database procedures, and scheduled processes. * Create secure RESTful APIs and integrations that allow DWELR’s applications and services to exchange information reliably. * Design and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas, relationships, indexes, queries, migrations, and data\-access policies. * Implement secure authentication, authorization, role\-based access, and account\-permission systems. * Apply database\-level security controls, including row\-level security where appropriate. * Integrate third\-party services such as Stripe, Google Maps, geocoding providers, email and notification services, analytics tools, and public\-data APIs. * Build systems for importing, validating, normalizing, matching, and updating public\-record and property\-related data. * Help develop the technical foundation for AI\-assisted features while ensuring that generated outputs remain connected to identifiable source evidence. * Work closely with product and design contributors to translate product requirements and design files into production\-ready features. * Write clean, reusable, well\-documented, and maintainable code. * Create automated tests for critical user flows, APIs, database operations, and business logic. * Participate in code reviews and help establish practical engineering standards. * Monitor application performance, investigate errors, and improve reliability. * Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks involving page speed, APIs, database queries, background jobs, and external integrations. * Support secure software\-development practices involving privacy, user\-generated content, sensitive documents, and account data. * Maintain source control, branching, pull\-request, testing, and deployment workflows. * Contribute to CI/CD processes that allow the team to test and release changes safely. * Document technical decisions, system behavior, deployment procedures, and important dependencies. * Help DWELR make sensible architecture decisions as the platform grows, without introducing unnecessary complexity. * Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, blockers, and implementation options clearly to both technical and nontechnical team members.
**Required Qualifications**
* Professional experience developing and maintaining full\-stack web applications. * Strong proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript. * Experience with a modern front\-end framework such as React. * Experience building backend services, serverless functions, or application APIs. * Strong understanding of RESTful API design and client\-server architecture. * Practical experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL. * Ability to write efficient SQL queries and understand database relationships, constraints, indexing, and migrations. * Experience implementing authentication, authorization, user roles, and secure data\-access controls. * Familiarity with Git\-based version control and collaborative pull\-request workflows. * Experience testing, debugging, and deploying production applications. * Understanding of web security fundamentals, including validation, access control, secure authentication, and protection of sensitive information. * Ability to turn product requirements and design specifications into reliable working software. * Strong problem\-solving skills and the ability to investigate unfamiliar technical issues independently. * Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in an early\-stage, cross\-functional environment. * Ability to take ownership of a feature through planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and post\-launch improvement.
We value demonstrated ability and real\-world project experience. Candidates may qualify through professional employment, startup work, substantial independent projects, open\-source contributions, or another credible body of work.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial but is not required:
* React, Next.js, or a comparable React\-based application framework. * TypeScript across both front\-end and backend development. * Supabase, including Supabase Auth, PostgreSQL, Storage, Edge Functions, and row\-level security. * Cloudflare Pages, Cloudflare Workers, or similar serverless and edge\-computing platforms. * Stripe subscriptions, billing, checkout, customer portals, and webhook integrations. * Google Maps Platform, address autocomplete, geocoding, map\-based search, or geospatial data. * PostgreSQL extensions, full\-text search, vector search, or geospatial queries. * Data ingestion, ETL pipelines, record matching, entity resolution, or public\-record integrations. * AI or large\-language\-model integrations, including retrieval\-augmented generation, embeddings, structured outputs, evaluation, or source attribution. * Building applications that process documents, evidence, user reports, or structured public data. * Privacy\-conscious systems involving user\-generated content or sensitive information. * Moderation, dispute\-resolution, audit\-log, case\-management, or trust\-and\-safety workflows. * Search systems, recommendation systems, analytics platforms, or data\-heavy consumer products. * Cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and application observability. * Automated testing frameworks and CI/CD deployment pipelines. * Mobile application development or shared web/mobile architecture. * Startup, PropTech, GovTech, CivicTech, marketplace, or SaaS experience. * Housing, real estate, public\-data, or government\-information systems.
**What Success Looks Like**
A successful Full Stack Software Engineer at DWELR will:
* Reliably deliver complete, production\-ready features rather than isolated pieces of code. * Build systems that are understandable and maintainable by future engineers. * Make practical technical decisions appropriate for an early\-stage company. * Improve platform security, performance, reliability, and data quality. * Raise concerns early when a requested feature presents privacy, security, scalability, or implementation risks. * Work effectively with changing priorities while maintaining engineering discipline. * Understand the user problem behind a feature instead of implementing requirements mechanically. * Help DWELR establish a strong technical foundation for future consumer, government, institutional, and AI\-powered products.
**Who This Role Is Best Suited For**
This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys building across an entire product rather than being restricted to one narrow technical area. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between user\-interface development, backend logic, databases, APIs, infrastructure, debugging, and technical planning.
You should be excited by the opportunity to join an early\-stage company, help shape engineering practices, and build technology addressing a significant real\-world problem in the rental housing market.
Because DWELR is an early\-stage company, priorities may evolve as the platform launches, receives user feedback, forms partnerships, and expands into new markets. The strongest candidate will be adaptable, thoughtful, dependable, and comfortable working through ambiguity.
**Why Join DWELR**
DWELR is working to create a more complete and useful source of residential\-property intelligence. Most renters are expected to make one of their largest monthly financial decisions without meaningful access to a property’s maintenance history, recurring complaints, ownership information, public violations, management responsiveness, or other important signals.
You will have the opportunity to help build technology that organizes this fragmented information into understandable, evidence\-backed products. Your work may directly influence how renters evaluate properties, how responsible housing providers identify problems, how government partners monitor housing conditions, and how institutional users understand residential risk.
This role provides the opportunity to:
* Have meaningful influence over product and architecture decisions. * Work on consumer, SaaS, public\-data, and AI\-powered products. * Build foundational systems rather than only maintaining mature legacy software. * Take ownership of features from initial planning through production. * Join the company before its planned expansion into additional markets and product categories. * Help establish the engineering culture and standards of a growing technology company.
