This position is located in Atlanta, Fulton County, GA and will require regular travel, possibly overnight, throughout the state of Georgia.

Job Description (General Summary):

Under general supervision, the Compliance Monitor 1 investigates allegations of fraud and abuse within the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamp), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), and Child Care programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct SNAP & TANF recipient fraud and non-fraud investigations, and/or other special investigations assigned.
  • Ensures all investigations are conducted in accordance and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and established DHS policy and procedures.
  • Organizes and evaluates data from various sources, utilizing research methods, interviewing skills and excellent proficiency in the use of technology to compile clear and concise investigative reports according to established procedures.
  • Coordinates pre-investigative, investigative and post investigative efforts with internal administration, prosecutors and state and federal agencies and other sources, as appropriate.
  • Ensures all evidence is handled properly within the appropriate chain of custody. Provides expert testimony in administrative hearings and criminal court.
  • Reviews all investigations to ensure their compliance with established rules and regulations.
  • Presents data to internal and external partners related to fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience performing office work, conducting research, or reviewing policy.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following skills/experience:

  • Three (3) years’ experience in determining eligibility for SNAP and/or the TANF program.
  • Demonstrated skill in using proper procedures to compute overpayments related to SNAP and the TANF program.
  • Demonstrated skill in conducting investigations and in preparing and presenting case reports and testimony in the judicial system concerning public assistance programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of SNAP and TANF program policies and procedures.
  • Experience in interpreting law, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience generating and managing high volume, detailed work requiring critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in reports.
  • Advanced proficiency with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.
  • Mathematical, problem solving and excellent analytical skills.
