Overview

The Development Operations and Communications Manager is a critical partner to Girls

Leadership's fund development efforts, keeping the Development team's daily

operations and communications running smoothly so we can raise more, and steward

donors better. This role ensures our donor data is accurate, our supporters feel seen

and appreciated, and our fundraising work is reflected clearly and compellingly across

our communications and social media channels. Reporting to the Chief Development

Officer and also supporting the Director of Development, this role is ideal for someone

who is detail-oriented, organized, and energized by both the operational and storytelling

sides of fundraising.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development Operations and Communications

Database and Revenue Management

  • Enter and maintain contributed revenue records in Salesforce accurately and promptly.
  • Reconcile donation records across Salesforce, Givebutter, and other fundraising platforms, identifying and correcting missing or duplicate entries.
  • Maintain clean and organized donor, gift, campaign, and engagement records.
  • Support fundraising tracking, reporting, forecasting, and campaign monitoring.
  • Produce monthly reports on key fundraising metrics, including donor retention, average gift size, campaign revenue, donor acquisition, and donor engagement.
  • Segment donor lists to support targeted communications and stewardship.
  • Monitor grassroots giving trends and share relevant insights and recommendations with Development leadership.

Donor Stewardship and Email Communications

  • Draft and send timely, personalized donor acknowledgment letters.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development on donor stewardship communications and follow-up.
  • Build, test, schedule, and track Development email campaigns in MyEmma.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of Development communications before publication.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor communications and engagement activity in Salesforce.

Fundraising Platforms and Organizational Profiles

  • Manage Girls Leadership’s presence on giving platforms such as Benevity, Blackbaud Verified Network, and PayBee.
  • Keep organizational profiles on Candid, Charity Navigator, and similar platforms accurate, current, and compelling.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot relevant integrations between Instrumentl, Salesforce, and other Development systems.

Institutional Partnerships and Project Management

  • Support the Chief Development Officer with institutional partner stewardship and the fulfillment of sponsorship and event benefits.
  • Create and maintain Asana project plans, partnership timelines, MOUs, meeting notes, task assignments, and deadline reminders.
  • Support the Director of Development with project management for partnerships requiring additional coordination because of their complexity, risk, or strategic importance.
  • Assist with Development Committee coordination and follow-up as needed.

Fundraising Events

  • Coordinate email outreach and other Development communications for the New York and California Power of Voice Celebrations.
  • Support event preparation, sponsor benefit fulfillment, volunteer coordination, day-of setup, and breakdown.
  • Coordinate with external designers, photographers, videographers, and other event vendors as needed.

Fundraising Marketing and Social Media

Content Creation and Publishing

  • Create and schedule social media content supporting fundraising, sponsorship, and donor stewardship.
  • Write platform-specific captions for LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest.
  • Design or source on-brand graphics, photos, and short-form videos using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools.
  • Maintain a monthly Development content calendar aligned with fundraising priorities, campaigns, events, and key dates.
  • Coordinate with the National Engagement Manager to ensure Development communications align with the organization’s broader communications strategy.

Platform and Community Management

  • Use LinkedIn to share organizational news, research, thought leadership, partnership updates, and fundraising opportunities.
  • Use Instagram to build community through storytelling, campaign content, reels, and stories.
  • Curate Pinterest boards featuring Girls Leadership resources, program content, and campaign materials.
  • Identify and flag potential opportunities for collaboration, press, fundraising, or partnership development.

Performance Tracking

  • Track monthly social media performance, including audience growth, reach, engagement, link clicks, and campaign results for all Development content.
  • Use performance data to recommend adjustments to Development content and outreach strategies.
  • Stay informed about platform updates and digital trends relevant to nonprofit fundraising and girls’ leadership.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is:

  • Experienced in prior customer service and administrative support.
  • Organized, with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Quick to master cloud-based tools (e.g., G-Suite, Doodle, etc.).
  • Experienced in fund development in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experienced with a CRM platform; Salesforce is a plus. Other relevant platforms may include OneCause, Canva, etc.
  • Skilled in building and sending email campaigns through a platform such as MyEmma.
  • Exceptional in verbal and written communication.
  • Exceptional with Excel, Word, and general web savvy.
  • Resourceful and creative.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity.
  • A great team player.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, remote position with an annual salary of

$75,000. Girls Leadership offers a comprehensive benefits package (details provided

upon offer).
