Position Overview
Great Lakes Greenhouses Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly organized Shipping & Receiving Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Shipping & Receiving department.
We are looking for a strong operational leader with solid knowledge of shipping, receiving, transportation, inventory control, and warehouse processes.
The successful candidate should have 3–5 years of management experience in Shipping & Receiving, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, or a similar environment.
Greenhouse, agriculture, or produce industry experience is not required but is considered an asset. We welcome experienced Shipping & Receiving professionals from other industries who can bring strong management practices, organization, and operational knowledge to our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Shipping & Receiving department.
- Assign daily duties and establish priorities based on production, customer, and shipping requirements.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure products and materials are received and shipped accurately and on time.
- Coordinate truck schedules, pickups, deliveries, loading, and receiving activities.
- Ensure shipping documentation, bills of lading, receiving records, and other required paperwork are accurate and properly maintained.
- Monitor loading and receiving procedures and address discrepancies, shortages, damages, delays, or incorrect shipments.
- Work closely with Sales, Production, Packhouse, Logistics, Inventory, and other departments to ensure an efficient flow of products and information.
- Communicate with carriers, drivers, customers, suppliers, and other external partners as required.
- Maintain accurate inventory and shipping/receiving records.
- Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy, organization, and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain clear Shipping & Receiving procedures and ensure employees understand and follow them.
- Train and coach employees on job duties, procedures, safety requirements, and performance expectations.
- Address employee performance concerns and communicate them appropriately to Management and Human Resources.
- Ensure the Shipping & Receiving area remains organized, clean, safe, and operational.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Health & Safety requirements, Food Safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Assist with investigations and corrective actions involving shipping errors, damaged products, inventory discrepancies, or operational issues.
- Prepare reports and provide Management with updates regarding departmental performance and significant operational issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the efficiency and reliability of Shipping & Receiving operations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a Shipping & Receiving Manager, Warehouse Manager, Logistics Manager, Distribution Manager, or in a similar management position.
- Strong practical knowledge of shipping and receiving operations, warehouse processes, inventory control, and transportation coordination.
- Greenhouse, agriculture, or produce industry experience is not required but is considered an asset.
- Management experience in manufacturing, automotive, food processing, warehousing, distribution, transportation, or other industries will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience supervising employees, assigning work, managing priorities, and addressing performance issues.
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation and inventory accuracy.
- Experience coordinating carriers, trucks, pickups, and deliveries.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, inventory, shipping, or logistics management systems is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with cross-border shipping and customs documentation is an asset.
- Forklift knowledge or certification is an asset.
- Postsecondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is an asset. Equivalent relevant management experience will also be considered.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Shipping & Receiving professional who understands how to manage a busy department, lead employees, maintain accurate shipping and receiving processes, solve operational problems, and establish accountability.
Candidates do not need previous greenhouse experience. Strong Shipping & Receiving management experience from another industry is welcome, while previous experience in the greenhouse, agriculture, or produce industry will be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be expected to learn our operation while bringing proven Shipping & Receiving management practices and experience to the department.
Experience: Shipping & Receiving Management – 3–5 years preferred
Salary: Starting at $65,000 per year, or higher based on experience
Work Location: In person – Leamington, Ontario
Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
