Position Details

Job Title: Product Engineer – Temperature & Flow Products

Department: Engineering / Planning

Location: Coimbatore/Palakkad

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

The Product Engineer supports the technical planning and delivery of temperature and flow measurement products, working

closely with Sales, Design, Purchase, and Production teams to ensure engineered solutions meet customer and order

requirements.

The role covers technical input during quotation and design stages, preparation and verification of Bills of Materials, and

coordination of production planning to ensure orders are executed accurately, on time, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Quotation Support

  • Support the Sales team by providing raw material and component details required for quotation preparation.

Design: Engineering Support

  • Support designers/draftsmen during General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) preparation by providing engineering

solutions to meet the requirements of the sales order.

  • Review purchase orders, quotations, and sales orders to ensure technical and commercial requirements are clearly

understood.

  • Confirm hazardous area classification and protection method (e.g. Ex d, Ex ia, Ex n / ATEX, IECEx) required for

each order and ensure the specified product design meets it.

  • Confirm CE marking and other applicable regulatory/compliance requirements are identified at the design stage and

reflected in the BOM and documentation.

BOM Preparation; Order Review

  • Review General Arrangement (GA) drawings and prepare/verify the Bill of Materials (BOM) in the ERP system.

  • Identify the required manufacturing processes and determine whether sub-components should be manufactured in-

house or subcontracted.

  • Ensure BOMs and technical files reference correct hazardous area certification and CE marking documentation for

the product type (e.g. Thermowells, In-Pipe Sensing Elements, Surface Mount, Cable, or Multipoint Sensors).

Production Planning; Coordination

  • Prepare production planning documents and work packs for the shop floor, sequencing operations to meet confirmed

sales order delivery dates.

  • Plan material and component requirements for each order, liaising with Purchase to confirm availability and lead

times, including for ATEX-certified components.

  • Prioritise and re-sequence shop floor workload based on order priority, capacity, and material or drawing readiness.

  • Monitor progress of orders against the production plan, updating status in the company's internal order

management/ERP software and flagging delays proactively.

  • Plan and track subcontracted operations, confirming lead times and ensuring subcontractors are briefed on technical,

hazardous area, and CE marking requirements.

  • Work closely with the Design, Purchase, Production, and Sales teams to coordinate and ensure smooth order

execution.

  • Liaise with Design and Production to assess the planning impact of engineering changes, drawing revisions, or

technical queries, and adjust schedules accordingly.

Risk & Constraint Management

  • Identify potential production constraints, material requirements, and delivery risks, and coordinate with the relevant

teams to resolve them.

  • Escalate planning conflicts or compliance issues (e.g. missing hazardous area certification or CE documentation)

that could affect delivery, quality, or regulatory sign-off.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong understanding of temperature elements and differential pressure (DP) flow elements.

  • Experience working with temperature measurement products, including Thermocouples (TC), RTDs, Multipoint

Temperature Assemblies, and Thermowells.

  • Good working knowledge of temperature product range: In-Pipe Sensing Elements, Thermowells, Surface Mount

Sensors, Cable Sensors, and Multipoint Sensors.

  • Understanding of hazardous/explosive atmosphere requirements and certification methods (ATEX/IECEx protection

concepts such as Ex d, Ex ia, Ex n) as applied to temperature measurement products.

  • Awareness of CE Marking requirements and the compliance documentation needed to support product certification

and dispatch.

  • Experience in preparing and reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for engineered products.

  • Good understanding of the manufacturing processes for temperature elements.

  • Basic knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD/design software.

  • Engineering graduate in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in engineering, planning, or manufacturing.

  • Experience working with ERP systems and engineering/manufacturing-related software.
