Are you an experienced quarry or heavy industry professional ready to take the lead? Gympie Regional Council is seeking a motivated, safety-focused and proactive Supervisor of Quarry Operations to join our team on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the day-to-day operations of Council’s quarries and pits, ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective production and supply of quality materials to support Council’s civil construction, maintenance and infrastructure projects.
Combining hands-on operational leadership with planning, coordination and continuous improvement, you will play a key role in ensuring our quarry operations deliver for Council and the wider community.
About the Role
Reporting to the relevant operational management, you will oversee quarry personnel, contractors, plant and equipment, extraction, crushing and screening, stockpiling, material quality, maintenance coordination and product dispatch.
Safety will be at the forefront of everything you do. You will support the Site Senior Executive (SSE) in meeting legislative, safety and environmental obligations across Council’s quarries and pits, ensuring the effective implementation of the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) and associated operational procedures.
You will balance production targets, customer needs, material quality, plant utilisation and operational costs while maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring risks are identified, controlled and regularly reviewed.
This role is ideal for a confident leader who can bring people together, make sound operational decisions and drive productivity without compromising safety.
What You’ll Be Responsible For

-
Planning and resource management: Schedule personnel, plant and materials to support efficient operations and the timely delivery of Council projects.
-
Cost and commercial performance: Monitor production costs, plant utilisation, productivity and market trends to achieve value for money and strong financial outcomes for Council.
-
Reporting and continuous improvement: Maintain accurate production and operational records, report incidents and non-compliances, contribute to safety improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
-
Stakeholder engagement: Work collaboratively with Council business units, maintenance teams, contractors, suppliers and customers to deliver responsive, high-quality service.
