Position Summary

Hawkins-Weir is seeking an organized, dependable People & Operations Manager to manage the company’s day-to-day human resources functions and supervise our administrative team. This hands-on role supports employees throughout their time at Hawkins-Weir — from recruiting and onboarding to benefits, performance management, employee relations, professional development, and offboarding — while also helping coordinate administrative and office needs across the company.

We’re looking for someone who builds trust, uses good judgment, and is comfortable navigating difficult conversations when needed. Hawkins-Weir has established HR policies and practices in place; this role is about managing them well, improving processes where needed, and helping create a consistent, positive employee experience across our offices.

Essential Functions

Human Resources & Employee Support

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day resource for employee HR questions and needs.
  • Coordinate recruiting activities, including job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and candidate coordination.
  • Manage and continue improving the company's new-hire onboarding and orientation process.
  • Coordinate employee offboarding and exit processes.
  • Maintain personnel records, employment documentation, and HR files with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefits questions and enrollment.
  • Provide support for payroll administration and employee changes as needed.
  • Maintain established company policies, handbook materials, and HR procedures, working with leadership and outside advisors when specialized guidance is needed.
  • Coordinate the company's performance review and employee evaluation processes.
  • Navigate employee performance issues, difficult conversations, and workplace conflicts.
  • Support employee coaching, performance improvement, corrective action, and professional development.
  • Address employee concerns and help resolve workplace and interpersonal issues fairly and professionally.
  • Support recruiting, retention, and employee development efforts.

Office & Administrative Support

  • Directly supervise 3–4 administrative employees across company offices.
  • Establish clear expectations and responsibilities for administrative personnel.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Help coordinate administrative responsibilities and workflows across offices.
  • Address performance or personnel concerns within the administrative team.
  • Assist with general office and operational needs, including vendors, supplies, maintenance, vehicles, and other administrative coordination.
  • Help maintain professional, organized, and welcoming offices.

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Support company leadership and the Marketing & Brand Manager on employee engagement and culture initiatives.
  • Support internal employee communications and help ensure important company information is communicated clearly and consistently.
  • Help plan and coordinate employee events, meetings, celebrations, and other company activities.
  • Look for practical ways to improve the employee experience and strengthen connection across Hawkins-Weir's offices.

Education and Experience Required

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, management, communications, or a related field preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in human resources, people operations, office management, business administration, or a related role preferred.
  • Experience with several areas of HR, such as recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee records, performance management, employee relations, or payroll support.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise employees, provide constructive feedback, manage corrective action and disciplinary processes, and address performance or conduct issues consistently and professionally.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resource management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and office practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to report information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to document programs and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects under time and resource pressure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability to utilize computer software programs.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and problems, and to develop and recommend effective courses of action.
  • Ability to maintain valid Arkansas driver’s license.
