Job purpose:

To control and manage the Northern Transport Operation which includes Widnes, Selby, Port Clarence & Hebburn, to ensure Legal Compliance, achieve the desired standard of Customer Service and control Costs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage a team of Transport Supervisors to accomplish the following.
  • Complete the Delivery Plan.
  • Document all changes to the Delivery Plan and produce an accurate Confirmed Delivery Plan which can be used for the purposes of driver’s pay and the confirmation of sub-contractor costs.
  • Ensure that Drivers are fully compliant with all aspects of Drivers Hours Legislation, including but not limited to recording of all duty time, driving time, rest breaks and periods of availability.
  • Ensure drivers are working within WTD legislation.
  • Ensure that drivers undertake pre & post shift checks fully and take a reasonable time to undertake them.
  • Monitor the performance of the company fleet, use Microlise to its optimum and challenge drivers where necessary.
  • Monitor the performance of the sub-contractor fleet and raise any issues with the Transport General Manager
  • Producing weekly Transport KPIs as directed by the Transport General Manager.
  • Ensure that the Fuel Management system is correctly used by all Widnes, Selby, Port Clarence & Hebburn drivers.
  • Undertake all incident investigations and refer for disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Conduct Formal Disciplinary Hearings when required.
  • Ensure that all incidents are entered onto the PRIME system and completed within a reasonable timescale.
  • Provide a daily Operations Sheet to the Planners confirming holidays, sickness, rest days and vehicle availability.
  • Where there is a Night Loading operation, provide an accurate Night Loader sheet for pre-loads based on average loading times and monitor the performance of the night loading operation.
  • Assist with the implementation of Fleetmastr and ensure that all company drivers use this system correctly.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Microlise App and ensure that all company drivers use this system correctly.

Shift Pattern - Monday to Friday 09:00am to 5pm

25 Days holiday in addition to the public bank holidays

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £48,000.00-£48,100.00 per year
