About the Opportunity
Intrade Africa is looking for motivated Field Data Collection Officers to support retail intelligence projects within local communities. The role involves gathering business information directly from retail outlets and capturing findings through a mobile data collection platform.
Successful applicants will spend most of their working day within designated communities, visiting businesses, recording information, validating details, and ensuring all collected data meets project quality standards.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working independently, interacting with people from different backgrounds, and spending the majority of their time outdoors.

Main Duties
- Conduct visits to retail and trading outlets within allocated territories.
- Verify and record business information using a mobile application.
- Collect location-specific information and supporting photographs where required.
- Communicate professionally with business owners, managers, and staff members.
- Complete daily assignments within project timelines.
- Maintain high levels of data accuracy and completeness.
- Follow project procedures and quality assurance requirements.
- Report progress and field activities to the Operations Team Leader.

Minimum Qualifications
- South African ID, passport, or valid work authorization
- Grade 12 / Matric advantageous
- Ability to communicate in English and at least one local language
- Comfortable using a smartphone for work-related tasks
- Willingness to travel within assigned operational zones

Previous experience in any of the following environments will be advantageous:
- Survey fieldwork
- Community-based research

- Merchandising

- Customer service

Equipment Requirements
Applicants should have access to:
- An Android smartphone
- Mobile data connectivity
- Project-specific identification, authorization letters, and operational materials will be provided where applicable.
Additional Information
This position is primarily field-based and requires daily travel within assigned communities. Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors and engaging with a wide range of business owners and operators.
