The Test Technician performs setup, execution, and troubleshooting of production tests for PCBAs and finished IoT products. This role operates test equipment and fixtures, logs results in MES/Databases, performs basic failure analysis, and supports engineers during NPI, pilot builds, and mass production to ensure quality, throughput, and compliance with test procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Test Execution & Line Support

  • Execute ICT, FCT, RF, burn‑in, boundary scan, end‑of‑line and system tests per SOP/WI
  • Perform test setup and changeover (fixtures, programs, golden samples, calibration checks)
  • Monitor UPH, cycle time, and FPY; escalate anomalies promptly
  • Ensure ESD, safety, and 5S compliance at test stations

Troubleshooting & Failure Handling

  • Perform first‑level troubleshooting on failed units (visual inspection, re-test, basic probing)
  • Identify common failure modes (e.g., solder bridges, component orientation, loose connectors)
  • Properly segregate and tag failures, update defect codes, and route for FA/repair
  • Support engineers on root cause validation and corrective action verification

Equipment, Fixtures & Calibration

  • Conduct daily start-up checks, verify tooling pins, pogo pins, probes, and cables
  • Replace consumables (probes, fuses, relays), and perform basic fixture maintenance
  • Coordinate equipment calibration and maintain calibration labels/records
  • Report equipment downtime and support preventive maintenance schedules

Documentation & Data Integrity

  • Follow SOPs, Work Instructions, test specifications, and revision control
  • Accurately log test results in MES/traceability systems and ensure data integrity
  • Create/maintain checklists, station logs, downtime reports, and shift handover notes
  • Support ECN/ECO implementation at test stations (programs, labels, parameters)

NPI & Continuous Improvement

  • Support trial runs, pilot builds, GR&R, gauge study activities under engineer guidance
  • Provide feedback on test stability, ergonomics, and false fail/false pass issues
  • Participate in kaizen, 5S, Lean initiatives to reduce test time and improve yield
  • Assist with program loading, golden unit management, and version verification

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma/Certificate in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics or related technical field

OR equivalent hands‑on experience in electronics testing/production

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of electronic components, schematics symbols, and PCB handling
  • Experience operating test instruments: DMM, power supply, oscilloscope, barcode scanners
  • Familiarity with ICT/FCT/RF/end‑of‑line processes and MES/traceability systems
  • Able to follow test procedures, read BOMs, and interpret test limits
  • Comfortable with PC-based test software (operator UI, result logging, program selection)

Manufacturing Knowledge

  • Understanding of SMT/PCBA assembly flows, ESD controls, IPC workmanship basics
  • Experience in high‑volume production and shift/rotational work when required

Preferred / Added Advantage

  • Exposure to IoT protocols (Wi‑Fi, BLE, Zigbee) and basic RF measurements (RSSI, throughput)
  • Basic soldering/rework skills (0402, connectors) to support re-test (with certification)
  • Experience with barcode/RFID traceability, label printing, and simple fixture repairs
  • Knowledge of Lean, 8D support, SPC charts, or quality tools (Ishikawa, 5 Whys)

Soft Skills

  • Attention to detail and disciplined execution of procedures
  • Clear communication during shift handovers and escalation
  • Team player with production, quality, and engineering
  • Ownership mindset for station readiness and data accuracy

Typical KPIs

  • First Pass Yield (FPY) / Retest rate
  • Test cycle time / UPH (units per hour)
  • Line downtime attributable to test and response time to stoppages
  • Defect logging accuracy and documentation compliance (SOP/WI)
  • 5S and ESD audit scores at test stations
