Position Summary
The Director of Programming & Development (DPD) is responsible for managing Klondike Institute of Arts and Culture (KIAC) as part of a co-leadership team. Their role is focused on ensuring strong, values-aligned arts presentations & programming through oversight, evaluation, and resourcing of KIAC’s five programming areas: performing & literary arts, contemporary visual & public art, film & media arts, community arts programming & education, and economic opportunities for artists, as well as the Yukon Riverside Arts Festival and Dawson City International Short Film Festival.

About the Position
- This is a term position starting December 1, 2026 (or at the successful candidate’s earliest availability) and ending December 31, 2027 with the possibility to extend, pending funding.
- Hours of work are 30 hours per week, four days per week, with flexible work options available.
- The salary for this position is $60,000 to $68,309 per year to be determined based on experience.
- KIAC Leadership receive 4 weeks paid vacation and $1000 travel stipend annually.

About the Hiring Process
- Candidates will be assessed by the Hiring Team consisting of three person committee of the Dawson City Arts Society (DCAS) Board of Directors.
- During the hiring process, a review metric shall be created that aligns directly with the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Director of Programming & Development Job Description. This review metric will be used to determine the suitability of all candidates.
- All candidates who submit an application shall be notified if they were not successful in moving forward for an interview before the successful candidate is announced. All candidates who participate in an interview and are not successful shall be similarly notified.

Job Description Summary
The Director of Programming & Development (DPD) is responsible for managing KIAC as part of a co-leadership team. Key Responsibilities
- Advocacy & Strategic Leadership: Co-leads KIAC's strategic direction, serves as spokesperson, and upholds KIAC's values in decision-making.
- Governance: Supports the Board through reports, meeting materials, and policy development, and participates as an ex-officio member.
- Human Resources & Staff Support: Supervises, mentors, and manages the performance of all program-facing staff.
- Program Strategy & Oversight: Oversees the planning, delivery, and evaluation of all KIAC programming to keep it accessible, high quality, and aligned with KIAC's mission.
- Partnership Development & Community Relationship-building: Builds reciprocal community partnerships, prioritizing relationships with Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in and other Yukon First Nations.
- Revenue Generation & Fund Development: Leads fundraising and revenue strategies, including grants, sponsorships, and donor stewardship.
- Membership & Volunteer Strategy & Oversight: Oversees membership and volunteer programs that build meaningful, lasting engagement.
- Administrative Management: Supports organizational policies, confidential record-keeping, and responses to feedback.
Required Skills and Experience*
- Minimum of three years experience in nonprofit operations, senior administration, or arts programming management, including staff supervision and balancing day-to-day execution with strategic priorities.
- Strong understanding of community-engaged program development, artist support, audience development, and program evaluation practices.
- Proven success in fund and sponsorship development, donor stewardship and fundraising strategy.
- Strong financial literacy, including experience developing program budgets, monitoring funded projects, and interpreting financial reports.
- Demonstrated experience managing public funding/grants end-to-end: applications, budgets, compliance, reporting, and renewals.
- Commitment to a generative relationship with co-leadership and understanding of wise practices for co-leadership roles.
- Experience providing supervision and leadership to others, such as staff, with a demonstrated ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support. Fostering an empowering environment.
- Progressive leadership skills and a grounding in wise practices for nonprofit management.
Preferred Skills and Experience*
- Experience working closely with a Board of Directors and supporting governance processes: preparing board materials, reporting against plans/budgets, and implementing board-approved policies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines, and adapt to changing organizational needs.
- Experience with risk management and conflict resolution within a nonprofit or community setting.
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural, inclusive, and anti-oppressive environment.
- Proficiency with common administrative tools, including Google Workspace, Square, Mailchimp, Wordpress, and registration/payment platforms.
- Knowledge of the Dawson City, Yukon community including an understanding of local resources and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in culture, is an asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of DCAS vision and KIAC aims and objectives.

- This is an in-person, office-based role. Candidates must be currently residing in, or able to relocate to, Dawson City, Yukon by start date. KIAC does not provide housing or moving expenses.
Working Conditions
This position is based on-site and requires flexibility to meet operational priorities, facility needs, and seasonal workload peaks, including occasional evening or weekend work. The role includes travel within the territory and may require hands-on facility walkthroughs, basic physical tasks, and timely response to urgent operational issues (e.g., safety, maintenance, or service disruptions) in line with organizational policy and capacity. The Director of Programming & Development is expected to attend key events as a KIAC representative and, when circumstances require, to support event logistics including setup and tear-down to ensure events run safely and smoothly.
Pay: $60,000.00-$68,309.00 per year
