Job Title: Field Supervisor
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, organized, and team-focused Field Supervisor to oversee the daily performance of our landscape installation and irrigation crews while assisting the Operations Manager with project execution and field operations.
Job Description
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities for landscape and irrigation crews.
- Assign/schedule work, communicate daily priorities, and ensure crews understand project expectations.
- Visit job sites and assist crews as needed to regularly to monitor quality, productivity, safety, and progress.
- Review project plans, scopes of work, schedules, and work orders with crew leaders.
- Ensure installations and repairs meet company standards, approved plans, and client expectations. Coordinate corrective work when quality standards are not met.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and deliveries to keep projects on schedule.
- Identify field issues and work with management to develop timely solutions.
- Monitor employee attendance, performance, conduct, and proper use of company equipment.
- Train and coach crew leaders and field employees on proper landscape and irrigation practices.
- Enforce safety procedures, conduct jobsite safety discussions, and report incidents promptly.
- Inspect completed work and create punch lists before projects are presented to clients.
- Document job progress, labor hours, material usage, delays, and change-order needs. Monitor material usage and help reduce unnecessary waste, downtime, and rework.
- Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
- Assist with irrigation troubleshooting, plant identification, grading, drainage, and general landscape installation.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites, vehicles, and equipment
- Work with the Project Coordinator to develop daily and weekly crew schedules.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, deliveries, and subcontractors to keep projects moving.
- Review upcoming work and anticipate resource needs before they affect production.
- Confirm crews have the correct plans, job information, materials, tools, and equipment before arriving at the jobsite.
- Make appropriate field adjustments when weather, staffing, site conditions, or other circumstances affect the schedule.
- Communicate schedule changes quickly and clearly to affected employees and internal teams.
- Work with Estimator/Designer on project plans to understand scope and procurement needs.
- Maintain strong communication between field crews and office leadership.
- Assist Field Supervisor as needed with crews, equipment, maintenance and/or install projects.
Job Requirements
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple field crews.
- Working knowledge of landscape installation and irrigation systems.
- Ability to plan and coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and project schedules.
- Strong understanding of field productivity and crew management.
- Ability to read and understand project scopes, landscape plans, irrigation plans, estimates, and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with field employees and office leadership.
- Comfortable spending significant time in the field and traveling between jobsites.
