- DCS/Control Room Operation: Continuously monitor steam pressure, temperature, drum water levels, and exhaust gas flows through the control desk interface.
- Startup & Shutdown: Execute safe, standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cold, warm, and hot start-ups, as well as planned or emergency shutdowns.
- Parameter Optimization: Adjust fuel feed (supplementary firing), draft openings, and feed-water controls to maximize boiler efficiency.
- Emergency Handling: Respond swiftly to critical alarms, such as high/low drum levels, tube leaks, or trips in auxiliary equipment (fans, feed pumps, and valves).
- Field Coordination: Communicate and direct field operators to inspect equipment, verify readings, or perform manual valve operations.
- Logkeeping & Reporting: Document operational logs, meter readings, fuel consumption, and water chemistry test results.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to plant safety protocols and statutory boiler regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a B.E./B.Tech degree.
Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of DCS/PLC systems, reviewing interlock and protection logics, and steam-water thermodynamic cycles.
