About Lion Laboratories Ltd
Lion Laboratories Ltd has been at the forefront of breath alcohol measurement for almost sixty years. Founded in Cardiff in 1967 by the Welsh inventor Tom Parry Jones, the company developed the Alcolmeter®, the world’s first handheld electronic breath alcohol instrument, and received the Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement. Lion technology has been trusted by police forces in the UK and overseas ever since.
Today, from our base in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, we design and manufacture evidential and screening instruments, including the Intoxilyzer® 9000, AlcoBlow® Pro, Lion Alcolmeter® 900 and Lion Alcolmeter® 700, for police and enforcement agencies, and for industrial and commercial customers, around the world. As part of the US-based MPD Inc. group since 1991, we combine the close-knit, hands-on culture of a specialist Welsh engineering business with the reach and stability of an international group.
Our work matters. The instruments we build help keep roads safer, and the results they produce must stand up to scrutiny in court. Joining Lion means working on products with genuine real-world impact, alongside experienced engineers, in a company with a proud heritage and a clear commitment to developing the next generation of breath alcohol technology.
