Business Analyst Trainee (AT2708)
Are you curious about how organisations work, love solving problems, and want to use data to make a real impact? Mackay Regional Council is looking for an enthusiastic Business Analyst Trainee to kickstart their career while gaining hands-on experience across a range of Council services.
This is a unique opportunity to develop sought-after skills in business analysis, data insights, reporting, and process improvement. You'll work alongside experienced professionals to uncover opportunities, improve the way we work, and help shape better outcomes for our community.
Throughout your traineeship, you'll rotate through key Council programs including Corporate Governance & Performance, Information Services, Asset Management and Water Treatment, giving you valuable exposure to different programs and a broad understanding of how Council delivers services that support our region every day.
Timeframe and Qualification:
This is a 24-month traineeship. During the traineeship, you will complete four six-month rotations across key Council programs, whilst completing a Certificate IV in Business with a tailored specialisation aligned with data analytics, reporting and business improvement.
This traineeship is ideal for school leavers, those new to the workforce, or anyone interested in developing a career in business analytics, technology, systems, organisational processes or continuous improvement. Eligibility criteria may apply if you already hold qualifications in this area.

What you will need to succeed:

- Confident using Microsoft Office applications, with good literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- A willingness to learn new systems, technologies and business processes.
- A team player, with the ability to learn from, and grow positive relationships with others.
- Ability to exercise confidentiality, tact and discretion.
- Successful completion of Year 10 is desirable, but not required.
