McGarity Consulting Group is a woman-owned learning design firm in Chicago. We are proposing a three-year anti-racism learning and organizational development program for the city government of Minneapolis. The program serves up to 10 departments and about 2,500 individual contributors and front-line leaders.

You will help assess each department's needs, facilitate sessions and coach participants. Most sessions are in person. Some are live webinars or self-paced eLearning. McGarity's design team builds the materials with you. Work begins in early 2027 and runs through January 2030.

Required qualifications

  • A personal and professional history of work to overcome racism
  • A history of advocating for marginalized groups
  • Knowledge of the Minneapolis community and its challenges
  • Experience delivering anti-racism or equity programs across departments of a large organization, preferably in the public sector
  • Facilitation both in person and by live webinar
  • Anti-racist frameworks built into your teaching, programs or writing
  • Coaching experience with individuals or small groups
  • Content that addresses intersectionality, including gender, disability, age and income
  • Highly participatory, learner-centered facilitation grounded in adult learning
  • Experience with caucused spaces, and the judgment to recommend when to use them

Required: public sector equity work, a Twin Cities home base, a coaching credential such as ICF, and organization development experience.

What you will do

  • Join department leadership meetings to assess needs and set goals
  • Facilitate in-person and webinar sessions, including caucused spaces where recommended
  • Coach participants between sessions as they apply what they learned
  • Collect evaluations and help measure each department's results
  • Keep coaching conversations confidential
  • Join the client interview if McGarity is shortlisted

Terms

You will work as an independent contractor at $85 per hour. The contract guarantees no minimum hours. Approved travel is reimbursed separately. If you agree, we will name you in the proposal. Being named commits neither you nor McGarity until the contract is awarded and you accept the work.

Send the following:

  • A resume of two pages or fewer with month and year dates
  • Your highest degree and any coaching or equity credentials
  • One anti-racism program or coaching engagement from the past three years, with a reference
  • Your connection to Minneapolis and your availability from early 2027
  • Confirmation that you accept $85 per hour as a 1099 contractor and agree to be named in the proposal

Answer these questions in your cover note:

  • When do you recommend a caucused space, and when do you advise against one?
  • A participant becomes defensive and the room goes quiet. What do you do?
  • How do you coach a supervisor who wants to interrupt racist behavior on their team?
