Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Controlling (CO) Lead Consultant to lead management accounting, cost controlling, and profitability analysis initiatives as part of SAP S/4HANA transformation programs.
The ideal candidate will have strong functional expertise in SAP CO, including cost center accounting, internal orders, product costing, profitability analysis, and financial reporting. The consultant will work closely with finance stakeholders, business process owners, and cross-functional SAP teams to define future-state solutions, optimize controlling processes, and support successful SAP S/4HANA implementation.
Manufacturing industry experience is highly desirable, particularly in product costing, cost analysis, and production-related financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead SAP Controlling (CO) solution design and implementation for SAP S/4HANA transformation programs.
- Conduct business workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and fit-to-standard assessments.
- Analyze existing management accounting and controlling processes and recommend improvements.
- Design, configure, and implement SAP CO functionality, including:
- Cost Center Accounting (CCA)
- Internal Order Accounting
- Product Cost Planning and Product Cost Controlling
- Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
- Cost Element Accounting and cost allocation
- Activity types, activity rates, and assessment/distribution cycles
- Actual costing and variance analysis, where applicable
- Support standard costing, cost estimates, overhead calculation, work-in-progress (WIP), and production variance analysis.
- Define cost allocation, settlement, and reporting requirements aligned with business objectives.
- Support integration between SAP CO and FI, MM, PP, and other relevant SAP modules.
- Work with finance and manufacturing stakeholders to establish effective product costing and cost management processes.
- Support SAP S/4HANA Universal Journal and management reporting requirements.
- Prepare functional specifications, configuration documentation, process flows, and test scripts.
- Lead functional testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect resolution.
- Support data migration, reconciliation, cutover planning, go-live, and post-implementation hypercare.
- Drive process standardization, financial transparency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide functional leadership, guidance, and knowledge transfer to project team members.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of SAP functional consulting experience, with strong expertise in SAP CO.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation, rollout, or transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting, cost controlling, and financial reporting.
- Practical experience with cost center accounting, internal orders, product costing, and profitability analysis.
- Experience configuring controlling processes, including allocations, settlements, cost planning, and variance analysis.
- Understanding of standard costing, actual costing, WIP, and production cost analysis.
- Strong understanding of SAP CO integration with FI, MM, and PP.
- Experience conducting fit-to-standard workshops and translating business requirements into SAP solutions.
- Ability to define future-state processes and recommend SAP best practices.
- Experience preparing functional specifications, configuration documents, and test scenarios.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work onsite at the client's office in Elma, NY.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing industry experience, particularly in discrete or process manufacturing.
- Experience with production costing, BOMs, routings, work centers, and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Knowledge of SAP Material Ledger and actual costing in SAP S/4HANA.
- Experience with Margin Analysis and account-based CO-PA.
- Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and Agile project delivery.
- Experience leading functional workstreams and collaborating with finance leadership.
- SAP CO or SAP S/4HANA Finance certification.
Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
