A Hospital Store Incharge manages medical supplies, equipment, and inventory to ensure doctors, nurses, and staff have what they need for patient care.

Job Overview

  • Role: Store Incharge (Medical / General Stores)
  • Department: Supply Chain / Material Management / Administration
  • Reports To: Store Manager, Procurement Head, or Hospital Administrator

Key ResponsibilitiesInventory and Stock Management

  • Track stock levels using hospital inventory software to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Forecast demand for medicines, surgical consumables, PPE, and general hospital items.
  • Perform routine audits and physical stock counts to match system records.
  • Manage expiration dates by applying the FIFO method (First In, First Out) and safely disposing of expired goods.

Procurement and Vendor Coordination

  • Place purchase orders with approved vendors and suppliers.
  • Inspect incoming deliveries for correct quantities, damage, and quality compliance.
  • Resolve discrepancies in invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.

Issuing and Distribution

  • Fulfill requisitions from internal departments like nursing stations, labs, and operation theaters (OT).
  • Maintain logs of all issued items and monitor department consumption patterns.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a Pharmacy qualification (D.Pharm / B.Pharm) for medical stores. [1]
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in storekeeping, inventory control, or a healthcare setting.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and hospital management software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail for tracking batch numbers and expiration dates
