The Role:

We are seeking an Industrial Engineer-Welding to join our Perth team. In this role, you will plan, analyse and optimise welding and fabrication processes to improve productivity, quality, safety and cost efficiency. Develop, standardise and maintain manufacturing processes, welding procedures, work instructions, SOPs, routing sheets and production documentation. Review engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs, and translate design requirements into practical manufacturing methods. Analyse and improve production schedules, workflow, plant layout, material flow, labor utilization and equipment utilization. Monitor and improve welding productivity, cycle times, arc-on time, consumable usage, labour hours and overall manufacturing performance. You will also be responsible for the overseeing of all our fabrication projects to meet the applicable standards compliance’s requirements. You will need to work closely with the delivery teams to ensure you meet all the safety and quality requirements and the facilitation of risk mitigation. You will manage NCR’s, develop, and implement quality control procedures, quality management plans and work method of statements. This role requires you to work closely with the project stakeholders to build a strong quality and safety culture. Dealings with various vendors, suppliers, and fabricators to cover aspects of quality assurance and factory testing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and support Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).

· Apply metallurgical and welding engineering knowledge to select suitable materials, welding consumables and processes.

· Establish and maintain quality management systems in accordance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 3834, AS/NZS 5131 and AS/NZS 1554.

· Prepare and review traceability, quality records, Manufacturer’s Data Reports (MDRs) and welding documentation requirements.

· Support inspection, testing, NDT coordination, non-conformance resolution and equipment reliability activities.

· Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Procurement, Stores and Project teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational performance.

· Provide technical leadership and support for new product introduction (NPI), process improvements and production problem-solving.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, capacity enhancement, cost reduction and on-time delivery performance.

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated components, welded joints, coatings, and mechanical packages.
  • Witness FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) for pumps, valves, skids, and rotating equipment.
  • Review and interpret project specifications, ITPs, WPS, PQR, and client quality requirements.
  • Conduct supplier/vendor inspections (domestic & international) for material and fabrication compliance.
  • Prepare and review weld maps, test packages, dossiers, and inspection documentation.
  • Identify and document non-conformances; coordinate corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support project teams with inspection expertise and ensure technical compliance to ASME, AWS, ISO, and AS/NZS standards.
  • Contribute to internal audits, continuous improvement, and post-project review processes.

Qualifications and Experience

· A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

· Strong Knowledge of quality systems, processes, audits and general requirements of the fabrication and erection discipline.

· Demonstrated experience in studying Project contract and project specification thoroughly for developing Inspection test plan, quality management plan and quality control procedures as per the project specification and applicable Australian standards.

· Demonstrated experience in inspection of incoming materials, structural fabrication, assembly, testing and erection as per applicable engineering standards.

· Strong Knowledge in preparation of welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.

· Studying functional statements, organizational charts, and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units and to identify areas of duplication.

· Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, and controlling project inspection activities in different stages of the project.

· Establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

· Experience in collating Manufacturer Data Reports.

· Familiar with Australian standards AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554.1

· National/International certification (IIW-IWE/IWT, AMPP CIP LEVEL 2) preferred.

· Able to read and understand contract documents, specifications, structural designs, fabrication drawings, welding symbols …etc.

· Excellent skills in forward-planning and tasks/activities programming.

· Strong Computer knowledge, especially in Microsoft Windows and Office applications, AutoCAD, PDF editors, … etc.
