Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced General Manager – Operations to lead and manage overall manufacturing operations, ensuring optimum productivity, quality, cost efficiency, timely delivery and operational excellence. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating Production, Quality, Maintenance, PPC, Stores, Purchase, EHS and other operational functions to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage overall plant operations to achieve production, quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Develop and implement production plans in coordination with PPC and ensure timely order execution.
  • Monitor daily, weekly and monthly production performance against planned targets.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, raw materials and other resources.
  • Monitor production efficiency, machine utilization, downtime, wastage and overall operational costs.
  • Drive initiatives for productivity improvement, cost reduction and process optimization.
  • Ensure adherence to defined quality standards and coordinate with the Quality team for resolution of quality issues.
  • Work closely with Maintenance to minimize machine breakdowns and improve equipment availability.
  • Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables and other production requirements.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Dispatch and other departments.
  • Monitor and improve OEE, yield, rejection, wastage and production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, statutory, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Develop and implement SOPs, work instructions and operational systems to improve process control.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for recurring production, quality, maintenance and delivery issues.
  • Ensure proper manpower planning, allocation, productivity and discipline across the plant.
  • Develop and mentor production and operations teams and build a performance-oriented culture.
  • Review operational MIS/DPR and present key performance indicators and improvement plans to Management.
  • Ensure timely completion of customer orders as per committed delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with Management on capacity planning, expansion, new projects and operational improvements.
  • Ensure effective implementation of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage plant-level audits, inspections and compliance requirements in coordination with concerned departments.
  • Monitor operational budgets and control expenses within approved limits.
  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting and data accuracy related to plant operations.
  • Handle customer-related operational concerns and ensure timely corrective actions wherever required.
  • Ensure all work and assignments given by Management are completed within the defined timeline.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Production, Industrial or Automobile Engineering.
  • MBA/PG Diploma in Operations/Production Management will be an added advantage.
  • 12–18 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 4–5 years in a senior management role.
  • Candidates from Paint, Automobile, Chemical, Industrial Manufacturing or similar process/manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, manufacturing processes, maintenance, quality and plant operations.
  • Experience in handling multi-functional teams and complete plant operations.
  • Strong knowledge of productivity improvement, cost control and process optimization.
  • Good understanding of ERP/MIS and MS Excel.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
