Marketing Optimization Lead (3-Month Contract)
MONEXgroup — North York, ON
Employment Type: Full-time, 3-month fixed-term contract (with potential to convert to permanent) | Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Compensation: $12,000 – $15,000 per month
About Us
MONEXgroup is a Toronto-based payment processor founded in 2001. We serve retail, hospitality, and unattended businesses (such as car washes, vending, and laundry) with payment terminals, e-commerce gateways, and cashless payment solutions for self-serve machines. We help businesses across North America get paid and run their operations more easily.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an AI-first marketing leader. You won't need to have every answer. You'll know how to get the best answers out of AI quickly, you understand which AI tools fit which marketing jobs, and you work AI-first by default.
Our company standard is Anthropic's Claude. It's the platform our engineering team builds with (Claude Code), and it's the one we expect you to use daily for research, analysis, writing and planning. On top of that baseline, you'll evaluate and recommend the specialist AI tools each marketing function needs, from creative and video to paid media, SEO and automation.
You'll lead a 3-month Marketing Optimization phase, reporting directly to ownership. You'll take a full, honest look at how our marketing works today: people, processes, channels, tools and results. Then you'll build and start delivering the plan to make it better, with AI at the centre of how the work gets done.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility engagement, with the potential to extend or convert to a longer-term role.
What You'll Deliver
- Marketing Audit. Assess our current marketing operations, including strategy, budget allocation, channels, campaigns, website, CRM and automation, trade shows, team workflows and results. Identify what's working, what isn't, and where AI can have the biggest impact.
- Roadmap & AI Plan. Build a prioritized optimization roadmap with clear recommendations, costs and expected impact. Building on our Claude standard, evaluate and recommend the right AI tools for each marketing function, such as content, creative, design, video, research, paid media, SEO, analytics and automation. Then design the tech stack for a lean, high-output marketing team.
- Implementation & Future State. Begin implementing priority changes, including the first AI tools and workflows. Where that means automations, landing pages or reporting, build them in Claude Code or brief our engineering team in the way they actually work. Recommend the structure, roles and skills our marketing department needs to support our growth going forward.
- Throughout: Work hands-on with our marketing team, show them AI-first ways of working, share findings regularly with ownership, and bring fresh, creative thinking to how we go to market.
What You Bring
- Expert daily user of Claude. You know how to frame the problem, ask the right questions, keep refining, and check the output until it's right. You don't need to know everything. You know how to find it out fast.
- Proficient across marketing-specific AI. Generative image and video tools, AI features in ad platforms (Google, Meta, LinkedIn), AI-assisted SEO and content tools, and AI in CRM and marketing automation. You've run real campaigns with them, not just tested them, and you can judge cost against value.
- Working familiarity with Claude Code, or a clear willingness to learn it in your first month. You'll use it to build marketing automations, landing pages, reporting scripts and data pulls, and to work effectively with our engineering team.
- Experience: 7+ years of B2B marketing experience, including leading a marketing function or running marketing transformation or consulting engagements.
- Creativity: A strong creative mindset, with a portfolio or track record of distinctive campaigns that stand out.
- Analytical depth: You can audit budgets, channels and funnels and turn data into clear recommendations.
- Breadth: Experience across demand generation, digital advertising, CRM and marketing automation, brand, and events.
- Communication: You can deliver candid assessments to ownership and work constructively with an existing team.
- Show your work. Include two or three examples of marketing work you produced AI-first (campaigns, content, creative, analysis or automation), with a short note on which tools did what and how you checked the output. Expect to walk us through them.
- Nice to have: Experience in payments, fintech, SaaS, or unattended retail (vending, car wash, laundry).
Our Interview Process
You can use AI at every step, and we expect you to.
We'll start by meeting to talk about your background, your AI-first work and how you approach a marketing function you've never seen before. Next, you'll do a 60-minute practical session. We'll give you a real campaign or channel of ours, and you'll use Claude and whatever other AI tools you choose to assess it, identify the biggest opportunity and sketch what you'd do first, talking us through your decisions as you go.
We look at how you break down the problem, guide the AI, check the result and make judgment calls along the way.
