Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

The Opportunity

Project duration: 6 months

Over the past 12–15 months, Mozilla has expanded its marketing strategy in Japan, launching multiple campaigns across a growing mix of channels to drive Firefox mobile growth. As we look to expand our footprint in 2027, we are seeking an experienced marketer who recognizes the opportunity ahead and brings the local insight, ambition and hands-on execution skills to help deliver our next phase of growth.

Join Mozilla’s Global Marketing team as Senior Marketing Manager, Japan, to lead local execution and optimization of Firefox’s integrated marketing program in Japan. This six-month contract builds on campaigns already underway, connecting brand awareness and consideration with user acquisition and engagement across paid media, creators, owned channels and local activations. This will be a 6 month contract opportunity.

Working closely with the Japan workstream lead, you will translate agreed priorities into effective local campaigns, coordinate agency delivery and use market insights and performance data to recommend improvements. Overall Japan strategy and investment accountability remain with the Japan workstream lead; you will lead day-to-day local marketing delivery within the agreed plan and budget.

You will partner with Global Integrated Marketing, Product Marketing, Performance Marketing, Analytics, Product, Policy, Communications and Business Development, as well as local creative, media and creator agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead local campaign execution across awareness, consideration, acquisition and engagement, coordinating channels and activities against shared objectives and the Japan campaign calendar.
  • Manage local agency delivery across creative production, media and creators, with clear briefs, timelines, feedback, approvals and quality standards.
  • Manage creator and UGC campaigns from briefing and content review through launch, paid amplification and performance evaluation, in partnership with agencies and channel owners.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to adapt product positioning and feature messaging for Japanese audiences, ensuring cultural relevance, accuracy and alignment with brand and legal guidance.
  • Coordinate with Performance Marketing on localized acquisition creative, campaign timing and testing; use shared results to connect awareness and consideration activity with acquisition outcomes.
  • Work with Analytics and agencies to consolidate reporting, monitor agreed KPIs and budget pacing, and recommend changes to creative, channel mix and spend for approval.
  • Translate consumer research, competitor activity and cultural trends into practical campaign recommendations; assess local advertising platforms and marketing or distribution opportunities with relevant internal teams.
  • Maintain clear delivery updates, flag risks and dependencies early, and document learnings to support the next phase of Japan marketing.

Success During the Contract: Priorities and targets will be agreed with the Japan workstream lead at the start of the contract. Expected deliverables include:

  • An integrated six-month delivery calendar covering agreed campaigns, creator activity, creative assets and agency milestones, with clear owners and dependencies.
  • Timely launch and optimization of agreed activity within approved budgets, with appropriate localization and stakeholder approvals.
  • Regular consolidated performance updates and actionable recommendations, developed with Analytics and channel owners, covering brand and consideration signals, acquisition and engagement where measurable.
  • A final learning and handover document summarizing results, effective creative and channels, outstanding actions and recommendations for the next phase.

Professional Profile

  • [MANDATORY] Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English, with the ability to brief agencies, review Japanese creative and communicate clearly with global stakeholders.
  • 8-10 years of consumer marketing experience in Japan, including delivery of integrated marketing or go-to-market programs for global brands.
  • Experience marketing consumer apps or digital products, or demonstrably transferable experience driving consumer acquisition and engagement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple agencies and coordinate creative development, media delivery and creator or UGC programs.
  • A strong understanding of paid and owned channels, how awareness and consideration support acquisition, and how to evaluate campaign effectiveness.
  • Confidence interpreting marketing data, monitoring budgets and turning results into practical optimization recommendations.
  • Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to manage concurrent activities and deliver across a six-month contract.
  • Sound judgment in Japanese localization, consumer insights and cultural relevance, balancing creative quality with measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a track record of leading through influence across functions, time zones and cultures.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to identify issues early and move work forward independently within agreed priorities.
