An opportunity is available in the East Rand for a Theatre-qualified nursing professional to join a specialised surgical environment. This role is suited to a technically skilled nurse who understands the demands of theatre and can contribute to safe, efficient and high-quality procedural care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative journey.
- Prepare patients, equipment and the theatre environment for surgical procedures.
- Assist with surgical procedures in accordance with relevant competencies and clinical standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection prevention protocols.
- Ensure surgical instruments, equipment and supplies are appropriately prepared and available.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to changes in clinical condition.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetic teams, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate patient records and theatre documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional standards and applicable healthcare legislation.
- Promote patient safety and efficient theatre practices.
- Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- General Nursing Degree or Diploma.
- Current registration with SANC.
- Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing.
- Relevant experience and technical skills sufficient to meet the critical outputs of the role.
- Sound knowledge of operating theatre practices, patient safety and infection prevention.
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and key role players will be advantageous.
- Computer proficiency will be advantageous.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high clinical standards.
