An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Professional Nurse to join a specialised PICU environment in Johannesburg North. This role is suited to a clinically strong PICU nurse who is confident managing critically ill paediatric patients and supporting high standards of nursing care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill paediatric patients in the PICU.
- Assess, monitor and manage patients according to their individual clinical needs and prescribed treatment plans.
- Recognise changes in patients' conditions and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Administer medication and treatments safely and accurately in line with established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation and patient records.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety and quality care standards.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of nursing care within the PICU.
- Support junior nursing staff through guidance, clinical support and knowledge sharing.
- Work collaboratively with medical practitioners and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Contribute to maintaining a professional and efficient PICU environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- Current registration with SANC.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working within a PICU environment.
- Sound knowledge of paediatric critical care nursing practices.
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment and remain calm under pressure.
