Job Summary

The Software Engineer designs, builds, tests, and supports mSupply's warehouse management applications, with a primary focus on C#/.NET backend services (Marci Web Service and Marci Dashboard). The role also contributes to the native Android (Kotlin) Marci app used on Zebra rugged devices by warehouse associates and operations teams across our distribution centers. You will work in an Agile Scrum team with product owners, QA, and senior engineers. The backend currently runs on .NET Framework, and the team is planning a migration to .NET 8, so you will help maintain the current platform and prepare it for modernization. This is a fully remote position based in the United States.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain backend Web APIs and services using C#, ASP.NET Web API, and Entity Framework on .NET Framework, and contribute to the planned migration to .NET 8
  • Own defined modules of Warehouse Web Service and Dashboard (ASP.NET MVC), from design through production support
  • Design and optimize SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, and queries that support warehouse workloads (receiving, put-away, picking, cycle counts)
  • Build and support integrations with ERP and third-party systems
  • Develop, test, and maintain features in the native Android Marci app using Kotlin and Jetpack libraries, including barcode scanner and rugged device integration
  • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot .NET services hosted in Microsoft Azure (App Service, Storage, Application Insights)
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for .NET services and Android (Gradle) builds
  • Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code that follows .NET, Kotlin, and Android best practices
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies, code reviews, and technical design discussions
  • Investigate and resolve defects, crashes, and performance issues across mobile and backend tiers
  • Support warehouse rollouts and production issues in partnership with operations teams
  • Continuously learn new technologies, tools, and patterns to improve individual and team effectiveness

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of professional C# development experience, including ASP.NET Web API and Entity Framework on .NET Framework
  • Strong SQL Server skills: schema design, stored procedures, and query tuning
  • Experience consuming and building REST APIs, including authentication and error handling
  • Familiarity with Git, pull-request-based workflows, and CI/CD concepts (Azure DevOps preferred)
  • Working knowledge of software engineering fundamentals: OOP, SOLID principles, and unit testing (xUnit, NUnit, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Android development in Kotlin, or the ability to ramp up quickly (Java experience counts)
  • Written and verbal communication skills suited to a distributed, remote team

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Experience with .NET Core or .NET 8 and with migrating applications off .NET Framework
  • Experience with ASP.NET MVC
  • Android Jetpack (ViewModel, Flow, Navigation, Room, WorkManager), Hilt/Dagger, and Jetpack Compose
  • Zebra device experience (TC72, TC73, TC701) and scanner integration (DataWedge or EMDK)
  • Experience deploying Android apps through MDM (SureMDM or similar)
  • Azure Functions, Key Vault, and Azure SQL
  • Warehouse management, ERP, or supply chain systems experience
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to speed delivery, improve code quality, and automate routine engineering tasks

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Primarily sedentary work, requiring extended periods of sitting while working at a computer
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through virtual collaboration tools
