The opportunity
MW Solar is an established solar PV and battery storage company based near Helston, working throughout Cornwall.
We have a strong and growing order book and are looking for an experienced Operations & Project Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day coordination and delivery of our projects.
This is not simply an administrative role.
We are looking for someone who can become a key part of the business: managing customers, installation teams, suppliers, schedules and projects, and making sure work moves efficiently from initial enquiry through to successful installation and completion.
You would work closely with the company director, who will increasingly concentrate on system design, technical work, surveys, complex projects and customer consultation.
Your responsibility would be to make sure the operational side of the business runs properly around that.
The role
You would take responsibility for areas including:
- Managing customer enquiries, calls and ongoing communication
- Organising surveys, installations and engineer diaries
- Planning upcoming solar PV and battery projects
- Managing multiple live projects at different stages
- Ordering equipment and coordinating deliveries
- Liaising with suppliers, electricians, installers and subcontractors
- Making sure projects are properly prepared before installation starts
- Coordinating DNO applications and project documentation
- Keeping customers informed throughout their project
- Monitoring installations and resolving issues as they arise
- Coordinating deposits, invoicing and project completion
- Maintaining organised project records and documentation
- Developing better systems and processes as the company grows
You would not initially be expected to design solar systems or make complex technical decisions independently. Technical support will be available from the company director.
What we do expect is someone who can take ownership of everything surrounding the technical work and installation itself.
Who we're looking for
We are particularly interested in hearing from people currently working as a:
Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Operations Manager, Project Coordinator or similar.
Experience within solar PV or battery storage would be a major advantage, but isn't essential.
Strong candidates may instead come from electrical contracting, renewable energy, M&E, construction, heating, engineering or another business coordinating engineers, tradespeople and multiple customer projects.
The right person will be highly organised, confident with customers and comfortable making decisions.
You should be able to look ahead, identify what needs doing and make it happen without needing to be continually directed.
You will need to be comfortable working within a small business where things move quickly and where your contribution will have a very visible impact.
A full UK driving licence is required.
