About Nationwide Utilities
Nationwide Utilities is an energy consultancy helping businesses make better-informed decisions about energy procurement, risk, sustainability and performance. We combine our team's expertise with software and AI-supported workflows, while keeping clear human judgement and client relationships at the centre of delivery.
Bring market understanding and analytical judgement to a technology-supported energy business.
You will help turn market information, portfolio data and model outputs into clear, well-supported procurement analysis. Working alongside our existing team and AI-enabled solutions, you will test assumptions, explain uncertainty and help colleagues understand the choices available.
We value what you can contribute and how you learn—not simply whether you already tick every sector-specific box. UK energy-market and flexible-procurement experience is desirable, but candidates with strong transferable market understanding can develop the UK-specific knowledge in the role.
What you will do
- Follow electricity and gas market developments and explain their implications.
- Analyse portfolio positions, exposures, forecasts and procurement scenarios.
- Check source data, supplier reports and analytical outputs, investigating inconsistencies.
- Prepare clear recommendations that distinguish evidence, assumptions, uncertainty and required approvals.
- Support colleagues in explaining market and procurement findings to clients.
- Contribute ideas and test cases that help improve our analytical solutions and workflows.
What you will bring
- Sound understanding of how markets work, demonstrated through relevant work or applied analytical experience.
- Strong reasoning and data/modelling skills, with the ability to explain your approach.
- Careful judgement about uncertainty, limitations and when to seek specialist review.
- Curiosity, initiative and the ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
- Clear communication and a collaborative approach to shared delivery.
Experience in energy markets, portfolio risk or procurement is valuable. UK flexible procurement, wholesale contracts, SQL, VBA or Power BI are useful additions rather than a requirement to have mastered every area on arrival.
The role is analytical and advisory. Approval and execution of financial actions remain within NU's authorised framework; this is not a discretionary trading position. Responsibilities will reflect the experience and capability you bring.
What we offer
- Company pension and additional leave.
- Team socials and a collaborative working environment.
- A modern Kensington office with excellent transport links.
- The opportunity to contribute ideas and develop alongside experienced colleagues in a technology-supported energy business.
Apply through Indeed with your CV and brief answers to the application questions. Use anonymised examples rather than confidential client information, and let us know if you need an adjustment to the recruitment process.
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Additional leave
- Company events
- Company pension
Application question(s):
- Describe a market or portfolio analysis you carried out. What assumptions and risks mattered, and how did you communicate uncertainty?
- How would you check an AI-generated market forecast or procurement recommendation before someone relied on it?
