An exciting opportunity to join UCLH’s Research Business Development team

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the UK’s most research-active NHS organisations, with a strong reputation for high-quality clinical research.

The Joint Research Office (JRO) is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Support Manager, with excellent interpersonal skills, relevant experience in research management, feasibility and performance monitoring.

This is a key operational role supporting the delivery of UCLH’s commercial research strategy. You will work across the Trust and with external sponsors, CROs and industry partners to support the development and growth of clinical research activity across the organisation.

About the role

You will provide operational leadership and business intelligence to support the development and performance of UCLH’s commercial research portfolio.

A major focus of the role will be the coordination, facilitation and operational management of the research feasibility processes across the Trust. About you

We are looking for an individual with experience of working in clinical research, research management, NHS, academia, industry or a related environment, who can combine strong operational and analytical skills with excellent stakeholder management.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences.
  • Proven experience of building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing and implementing systems, processes or service improvements.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently using your initiative.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of working collaboratively across organisational and professional boundaries.

Experience of commercially sponsored clinical research, research business development, industry engagement or working with pharmaceutical companies and CROs would be highly desirable.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing research environment and play a central role in strengthening UCLH’s commercial research portfolio.

You will work with clinicians, researchers, research support teams, senior leaders and leading life sciences organisations, gaining broad exposure to the full commercial research pathway.

  • Work within one of the UK’s leading research-active NHS Trusts.
  • Develop your expertise in research business development, operational delivery and industry engagement.
  • Support the development and implementation of the UCLH commercial research strategy.
  • Contribute to projects that improve research processes, performance and operational delivery.
  • Develop reports, presentations and business intelligence for senior research leadership.
