This job is for engineers who solve problems and fix what breaks, not pass tickets along. You'll build features from idea to launch with the founder and a designer on a small, growing team. We want you to speak up when you disagree or get stuck. This job isn't for people who wait for instructions.
What you'll work on
Our software checks that workers are qualified for their jobs. We're funded and running a pilot. We build it in TypeScript, Next.js, React, and PostgreSQL. Many companies share the same records, and each must see only its own. You will:
- Design the database tables and access rules that make that work.
- Build screens from Figma designs, and fill in what the design leaves out.
- Bring in outside records through APIs, CSV files, and web scraping.
- Review code from other engineers, including code an AI wrote.
What you need
- You've shipped full features in TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.
- You've designed a database from scratch and reviewed other engineers' code.
- You understand every line you ship, even code an AI wrote.
- You plan before you build.
- You write tests for your own code.
- You speak and write clear English, and you can be online 9 AM to 1 PM US Eastern every day. You choose when to work the other 4 hours.
- It helps if you've used PostgreSQL Row-Level Security, job queues, Docker, AWS or GCP, LLMs, or OCR. Handling private health or HR records helps too.
What you get
Pay is $20 to $25 an hour, based on your take-home and experience. We pay in your local currency at a USD rate. You work from home.
How to get the job
Hiring takes about two weeks from application to trial.
- Apply. Fill out a 5-minute form. If you're a fit, we'll contact you within a week.
- Call. Talk with the founder for 20 minutes.
- Take-home. Spend 4 hours on a small project. We pay $100 when you submit it complete. Use AI tools if you want, but you're responsible for what you submit.
- Review. Walk the founder and an engineer through your work, then change something while we watch.
- Trial. Work one paid week with us. A good week earns you a full-time offer.
