NPS Engineering Group is a family-owned manufacturing business, founded in 1987. NPSEG has established itself as a market leader in chemical dosing, booster systems, GRP and Fabrication projects. Based in Bradford over two manufacturing sites, NPSEG employs over 85 people and is committed to quality manufacturing. A full solution is provided, from design through to commissioning.

We now have an opportunity for a General Manager to join our team. The role of General Manager is to manage the day-to-day GRP operation, ensuring correct decisions are made with the business at the forefront, in a hands-on way. It is also the General Manager’s role to track, manage, maintain and plan in a strategic way to ensure sustainable growth, market share and profitability. It is paramount the General Manager engages with internal teams to ensure the highest quality is driven throughout all areas, to exceed customer’s expectations and internal objectives. The General Manager should be able to balance both strategic and operational duties, with a keen interest in product knowledge and problem solving.

A bit about what you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and mentor direct reports enabling them to achieve their full potential, by setting clear expectations and an open, positive environment
  • Drive and engage business development strategies to ensure opportunities are maximised
  • Measuring and managing costs and revenue to justify business decisions and present these to stakeholders where necessary
  • Oversee key projects from inception to completion, ensuring customer satisfaction and internal safety is prioritised
  • Develop and maintain meaningful long term internal relationships and engagement
  • Analysis of projects to ensure costs remain accurate and deadlines are achievable internally, and implement measures to ensure these are consistently achieved
  • Ensure compliance with all legal regulations and accreditations is maintained, as a minimum including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001
  • Report stock and work in progress monthly to relevant stakeholders by the agreed deadline
  • Have a strategic view of problem solving prior to challenges arising
  • Develop and manage the supply chain, looking for improved opportunities

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in managing a manual manufacturing shopfloor environment
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Familiarity with ERP and MRP software packages
  • Experience leading and managing project and sales teams
  • Ability to plan strategically with business growth and success in mind
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Leadership and human resources management skills
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • BS degree or similar qualification in engineering or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of GRP products, means and methods is desirable
  • Strong team player
