Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $102,936 to $113,579 \+ super

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Project Officer, who will provide essential project and administrative support to ensure disaster adaptation and mitigation projects are delivered efficiently and meet quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

Providing project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones, and deliverables to ensure alignment with approved timelines and budgets.

Updating and maintaining documentation and records to ensure compliance with project management methodologies.

Undertaking research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of project briefs for informed decision\-making.

Assisting the project team in implementing project plans and completing tasks to achieve agreed outcomes.

Communicating with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and implementation issues.

Delivering secretariat and administrative services, including coordinating committee meetings and preparing papers to support project delivery.

The Flood, Coastal and Hazard Strategy Branch is the NSW Reconstruction Authority’s central hub of technical hazard specialists, working at the forefront of disaster risk reduction through place\-based disaster adaptation planning.

We lead a coordinated approach to understanding current and future natural hazard risks, bridging gaps in knowledge, and driving evidence\-based solutions. From developing best\-practice infrastructure and nature\-based strategies to providing technical assurance for critical programs, our work directly influences how NSW prepares for and responds to disasters.

About You

To excel in this role, you need to have a solid foundation in project support, contract administration, or program coordination, ideally within a technical or government environment.

We are looking for someone with exceptional organisational skills who can manage competing priorities and keep complex admin tasks on track. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be collaborating with diverse technical specialists and managing relationships with contractors.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualification and/or relevant knowledge and experience.

Must be a current NSW Public Sector Employee
