Remuneration: $79,419 - $113,301 per annum

Hours Per Week: 38

Location: Transcultural Mental Health Centre, Cumberland Hospital.

Where you'll be working

Based at the Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC), Cumberland Hospital, you’ll join a specialist statewide service supporting NSW Health mental health teams across metropolitan, regional and rural communities.

  • Work within a specialist team dedicated to transcultural mental health practice and equity.
  • Partner with public mental health services and community agencies across NSW.
  • Provide expert advice, consultation and resources for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive environment that values cultural capability, clinical excellence and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Help strengthen the capacity of mainstream services to deliver culturally safe and responsive mental health care.

What you'll be doing

You’ll draw on your clinical expertise, bilingual language skills and cultural knowledge to provide timely, high-quality consultation and support to mental health professionals seeking assistance with complex CALD presentations.

  • Provide intake, triage, clinical advice, information and culturally relevant resources to NSW Health services.
  • Deliver short-term in-language and cross-cultural clinical consultation by telephone, telehealth and face-to-face.
  • Support conjoint interventions and seamless care in partnership with local mental health teams and clinicians.
  • Prepare culturally informed clinical reports and recommendations that promote recovery-oriented care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, data and service information while supporting quality, safety and equity across TMHC services.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Social Work
  • Registration: Eligibility for the Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

Selection Criteria:

  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in a mental health (or related) setting

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of service providers and networks

  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health experiences related to migrant and refugee populations

  • Experience in cross cultural clinical practice, utilising interpreters and or bilingual skills in mental health practice

  • Knowledge of a wide range of mental health networks and services

  • High level of verbal and written communication skills in English and in one or more other languages and experience in using bilingual skills in health/social service setting

  • Excellent time management, organisation and computer skills including word processing and use of data bases with attention to detail.

  • Current NSW driver’s licence
