NuEra Properties is a growing real estate development and property management company based in Calgary. We are looking for an accountant to join our head office team. This individual would take on a lead accounting roll, and work with our office manager to look after all accounting, financing, payroll and bookkeeping. This is a unique opportunity for someone to grow with our business and be involved with and learn all aspects of the business operations.
Responsibilities:
Primary Tasks
- Entering project budgets and reporting variances
- Assist with the preparation of and progress reporting on construction budgets for financing purposes.
- Prepare year-end tax returns for corporations and partnerships in the NuEra group.
- Work with our accounting firm to implement tax strategies
- Perform monthly GST reporting for applicable companies.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts (including Trust Accounts), company credit cards and loans.
- Monthly Financials – ensure GL entries are accurate
Secondary tasks
- Assist with light-level IT tasks such as setting up new computers for employees.
- Perform payroll duties such as processing payroll for salaried and hourly employees, tracking employee sick and vacation time, and entering new employees into payroll software. Issuing ROE’s when necessary and preparing T4’s
- Backup for Administration and Accounts Payable for vacation coverage.
Completion/Knowledge
- CPA or working towards one
- Payroll
- Budgeting
- Experience with Sage 100 Contractor or similar Sage products
- Experience with Wolters Kluwer TaxPrep
- Experience with business and real estate financing
Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
