Job Description - Analyst - D2C Merchandising
You should apply if you have:
- A sharp analytical mind combined with a genuine feel for on-site consumer experience — you notice when a layout, widget, or page just doesn't convert, and you can prove why with data
- Strong grounding in A/B testing methodology — designing hypotheses, sizing tests, and reading results correctly rather than eyeballing conversion bumps
- Comfort blending qualitative and quantitative research — you can watch session recordings on tools like Hotjar/Clarity and run user interviews, and translate what you see into a testable hypothesis
- Fluency with product/funnel analytics — you can dig into event-level data to find exactly where the funnel is leaking and size the opportunity to fix it
- An ownership mindset over the D2C storefront as a whole — you think of every widget, PDP section, sale page, and search result as real estate to be optimized, not just decorated
- An AI-first workflow — you use LLMs and vibe coding tools to prototype page changes, synthesize research, and move faster than a traditional analyst would
- Stakeholder management ability — you can take a merchandizing recommendation to the product and design teams and defend it with evidence
You should not apply if you:
- Are looking to run merchandizing operations day-to-day (inventory, pricing, catalog ops) — this is an analysis and optimization role, not a merch-ops role
- Need a long ramp time — we expect you to understand our D2C storefront and start proposing tests within weeks
- Treat a page redesign or a new widget as the finish line rather than the start of a measurement cycle
- Are uncomfortable making a judgment call on a page layout without a perfectly clean dataset behind it
Skills Required:
Must-Have
- A/B Testing & Experimentation Design: framing hypotheses, calculating sample size and test duration, and reading out results correctly
- Session Recording & Behavioural Research: hands-on use of Hotjar and/or Microsoft Clarity to watch and synthesize real user sessions into friction points
- Product/Funnel Analytics: using event-based analytics tools to identify exactly where the funnel is leaking and quantify the opportunity
- Qualitative Research: running and synthesizing session recordings and user interviews into actionable findings
- Merchandizing & Storefront Analytics: reasoning about widget placement, PDP structure, sale page architecture, and on-site search/discovery
- Analytics Tools: GA4 (or similar) for on-site behaviour, a BI tool (Metabase/Power BI) for reporting, and Excel/Sheets for modelling
- AI-Assisted Building: using LLMs and vibe coding tools to prototype pages, synthesize research, and speed up analysis
Good to Have
- Familiarity with event-based product analytics platforms such as Mixpanel or Amplitude
- Basic familiarity with Figma or similar to mock up widget/page changes
- Prior experience with PDP or CRO optimization in a D2C or e-commerce business
- Python for basic scripting on data pulls or test analysis
What will you do?
Own the D2C Storefront Real Estate
- Decide how every widget on the homepage, category, and PDP pages should be placed and sequenced
- Plan and prioritize sale and campaign page layouts across major sale events
- Continuously audit the storefront for underperforming or redundant real estate
Run A/B Testing & Experimentation
- Design and run structured A/B tests on landing pages, PDPs, widgets, and on-site promotions
- Define success metrics, calculate sample size, and read out results with statistical rigour
- Build and maintain a prioritized backlog of testing hypotheses
Drive Consumer Insights
- Watch and synthesize session recordings on Hotjar/Clarity to uncover on-site friction points
- Run user interviews to go deeper on the 'why' behind observed behaviour
- Convert qualitative signals into testable hypotheses and merchandizing recommendations
Diagnose Funnel Leakages
- Use product analytics tools to trace the funnel step by step and pinpoint where users drop off
- Quantify the size of each leakage and prioritize fixes by potential impact
- Partner with product on instrumentation gaps when the data needed isn't already tracked
Plan On-Site Promotions & Campaigns
- Plan how sale pages, campaign pages, and promotional widgets should look and be sequenced across the site
- Coordinate timing and placement of on-site promotions with the marketing calendar
Optimize PDPs and On-Site Search
- Identify PDP-level improvements — content, trust signals, cross-sell, review placement — and validate them with data
- Monitor on-site search and discovery performance and recommend improvements to relevance and merchandizing rules
Translate Insights into Merchandizing Recommendations
- Convert findings into clear, prioritized recommendations for the merchandizing operations team to execute
- You own the analysis and the recommendation — the merchandizing team owns execution — so follow-through and clarity matter
