Responsibilities
We are looking for an Application Engineer who wants to take technical ownership of business applications and their integrations within OBI’s marketing technology landscape. You will work with applications such as Bloomreach, Topsort, TYPO3, and Frontify, ensuring they are properly configured, maintained, and connected through reliable data flows.
As the first person in this role, you will have the opportunity to shape application engineering practices from the ground up. Combining application administration, scripting, and cloud infrastructure, you will work closely with Marketing, Product Owners, and architecture teams to improve and evolve the application landscape.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Take technical ownership of business applications, including administration, configuration, access management, maintenance, and documentation.

Build and maintain data integrations between applications using Python, REST APIs, CSV/JSON, and AWS S3, ensuring reliable data exchange with external platforms and services.

Deploy and maintain smaller applications and their hosting environments on AWS, using Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.

Collaborate with Marketing stakeholders and Product Owners to assess technical feasibility, advise on application capabilities, and implement changes aligned with business needs and the product roadmap.

Establish reusable approaches and standards for hosting and maintaining applications, supporting a consistent and scalable application landscape.

Maintain technical documentation of applications, interfaces, and data flows, collaborating with solution and domain architects to support effective application landscape management.

Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, simplify integrations, and improve or consolidate the existing application landscape.

Qualifications

Completed university degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field.

Several years of professional experience in Application Engineering, Integration Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar technical role involving business applications.

Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes, ideally in an AWS environment.

Practical scripting experience with Python or a similar language, including automation and data transfer tasks.

Experience working with REST APIs, CSV/JSON data formats, and cloud storage solutions such as AWS S3.

Experience administering and maintaining SaaS or business applications, including configuration, access management, troubleshooting, and user support.

Strong communication skills in English and Polish, with readiness to work in a hybrid model in Katowice.
Nice to Have:

Experience with marketing technology applications, such as Bloomreach, customer data platforms (CDPs), ad servers, TYPO3, or Frontify.

Experience building integrations with advertising platforms, supply-side platforms (SSPs), or other external data destinations.

Familiarity with application architecture or IT application portfolio management.
