Our financial services include employer-based benefits like retirement planning so employers can help their people plan for a comfortable life after they stop working. We also provide personalized financial planning and investment services to help families succeed in every stage of life.

Our Newest Opportunity:

The Instructional Designer enables Financial Services teams to adopt new processes, technology, offerings, and ways of working. Partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs), the change management team, and business stakeholders, this role turns complex business information into clear, practical knowledge and learning experiences.

The role owns the learning-content lifecycle: gathering information, building and maintaining knowledge resources, designing new-hire training across e-learning and live formats, and using feedback and data to keep materials current and effective.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaboration and Change Enablement

  • Partner with the change management team and business stakeholders when new processes, technology, offerings, or ways of working are introduced; clarify the audience, impact, desired behaviors, and learning needs.

  • Lead structured SME interviews and recorded discovery sessions to capture the process, user workflow, dependencies, common questions, and the learner value proposition.

  • Recommend the appropriate knowledge and learning approach, such as a knowledge article, job aid, e-learning, live virtual session, in-person session, or blended solution.

Knowledge Management

  • Create and maintain accurate, learner-friendly knowledge articles and supporting resources from SME interviews, recordings, source materials, and approved business documentation.

  • Organize content in the Knowledge Hub using consistent structure, naming conventions, links, and version control so learners can find and use information easily.

  • Manage the content-review cycle with business owners; track required updates and ensure related resources remain aligned when information changes.

Content Development and E-Learning

  • Design and develop new-hire learning materials that bring together the most relevant knowledge into a clear, holistic learning experience.

  • Create e-learning courses and supporting materials including learning objectives, storyboards, scenarios, knowledge checks, assessments, and participant resources using an e-learning authoring tool.

  • Publish and maintain e-learning in the learning management system (LMS) / e-learning platform; manage learner assignments, learner groups, completion records, reporting, and learner support, while partnering with the platform administrator on system needs.

In-Person and Virtual Cohort Training

  • Design and facilitate live virtual and in-person learning that helps new hires understand, practice, and apply essential Financial Services knowledge.

  • Personally facilitate, as part of the team, quarterly new-hire cohorts that culminate in an in-person learning experience.

  • Use learner-centered methods—such as scenarios, practice exercises, group problem-solving, simulations, and discussion—to create an engaging and practical learning environment.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

  • Use LMS data, assessment results, learner feedback, and live-session observations to evaluate learning quality, engagement, comprehension, and application.

  • Maintain a content inventory, review schedule, and update tracker for knowledge resources and training materials.

  • Coordinate updates across the knowledge library, e-learning, and live training materials when a process, policy, system, or offering changes.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience applying instructional design and adult learning principles to create clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences.

  • Ability to interview SMEs, synthesize complex information, and translate it into learner-centered knowledge articles, e-learning, job aids, and live training materials.

  • Comfort designing and facilitating live virtual and in-person learning experiences for diverse audiences.

  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and visual communication skills.

  • Organized project manager who can manage multiple SMEs, content-review cycles, timelines, and competing priorities.

  • Analytical and improvement-oriented; able to use feedback and learning data to strengthen content and learner outcomes.

  • Collaborative, proactive communicator with the curiosity and learning agility to build financial services knowledge quickly.

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience in instructional design, learning and development, organizational development, communications, knowledge management, or a related field will be considered.

  • 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, corporate learning and development, knowledge management, or a related role.

  • Experience supporting change-management, technology-adoption, process-improvement, or operational-readiness initiatives is preferred.

  • Experience using e-learning authoring tools and an LMS or e-learning platform; experience managing learner assignments, groups, completion records, and reporting is required. Experience with Absorb and Articulate is a plus.

  • Experience in the financial services industry (institutional retirement, individual wealth management, banking, insurance, etc.) is preferred but not required.
