We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious Junior Mobile Developer to join our growing technology team.

This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience developing and supporting the Vyne Online platform, with a primary focus on building Flutter applications for iOS, Android and web. Working alongside experienced developers, designers and business stakeholders, you'll help deliver secure, accessible and user-friendly digital solutions that improve the experience of patients, customers and healthcare professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has gained some development experience through employment, education, placements or personal projects and is looking to build a career in modern mobile development. Whilst existing technical knowledge is valuable, we're equally interested in candidates who are enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn.

As well as mobile application development, you'll gain exposure to cloud technologies, REST APIs, system integrations and healthcare technology platforms, providing an excellent foundation for a long-term career in software development.

This role is based at our Leeds HQ, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.

Please note that whilst we are currently based in Leeds City Centre, we will shortly be relocating to the Stourton area of Leeds.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing, maintaining and enhancing Flutter applications for iOS, Android and web.
  • Implementing new features and improvements based on agreed requirements and designs.
  • Diagnosing and resolving application defects, performance issues and unexpected behaviour.
  • Supporting application testing, release preparation and deployment activities.
  • Learning and applying platform-specific considerations for iOS and Android development.
  • Writing clean, maintainable and well-documented Dart code with support from the wider development team.
  • Consuming REST APIs and integrating mobile applications with backend services.
  • Working with authentication services, API gateways and secure integrations.
  • Participating in technical discussions, code reviews and development best practices.
  • Working with product owners, business stakeholders and end users to understand requirements.
  • Collaborating with UX/UI designers to deliver high-quality user experiences.
  • Participating in agile ceremonies including planning sessions, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Using Jira to manage development tasks, user stories and defects.
  • Using Git and Bitbucket for source control, branching, pull requests and peer review.
  • Carrying out testing and validation of new functionality.
  • Assisting with the investigation and resolution of production issues and customer-reported defects.
  • Contributing to technical documentation and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and helping enhance product quality.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Some practical experience with Flutter and Dart, gained through employment, education, placements or personal projects.
  • An understanding of mobile application development principles and mobile user experience.
  • An understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience consuming or working with REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with Git-based source control.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working.
  • Enthusiasm for mobile technology and a strong willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable

  • Experience building, publishing or maintaining iOS and/or Android applications.
  • Experience with Flutter or other cross-platform development frameworks.
  • Familiarity with API gateways, authentication services and backend integrations.
  • Understanding of responsive design, accessibility and usability principles.
  • Experience working within an agile development environment.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, product teams or business stakeholders.
  • Experience working with the NHS or organisations delivering software solutions into healthcare environments.
