Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-focused individual to fill the position of Food Bank Manager. Reporting to the Director of Healing, this part-time position (20 hours per week) is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Community Food Bank while working collaboratively with internal staff and community partners to support the health and well-being of community members.
Hours: Part-Time – 20 hours per week Schedule:
Flexible schedule based on Food Bank operating hours (every second week) and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the operation of the Community Food Bank during scheduled operating weeks.
- Work closely with the Social Case Management team to identify and support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
- Collaborate with the Community Dietitian to promote healthy food choices and nutrition education.
- Coordinate, schedule, and support Food Bank staff and volunteers.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies, including receiving, organizing, and distributing donations.
- Ensure food is stored, handled, and distributed in accordance with food safety standards.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, donors, and food suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records, inventory reports, and program statistics.
- Assist with food drives, fundraising initiatives, and community outreach activities including seasonal greenhouse and community harvesting oversight.
- Support seasonal food security planning by ensuring that year-round food needs are addressed.
- Ensure a welcoming, respectful, and confidential environment for all Food Bank clients.
Qualifications
- Experience coordinating programs, volunteers, or community services.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of food safety practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic record-keeping.
- Relevant experience will be considered as asset during the hiring process
- An understanding of community needs and requirements is considered a strong asset.
- A valid driver's license is considered an asset.
