We are looking for an experienced and driven Director General Ledger Accounting (all genders) to join our team full-time with immediate effect. In this role, you will take ownership of our global general ledger accounting operations, leading a high-performing team and ensuring excellence in financial reporting across multiple international entities. Combining strong expertise in HGB and IFRS with a hands-on leadership approach, you will drive standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement within our accounting landscape. Working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional finance teams, you will play a key role in shaping scalable processes and advancing our finance transformation.

This position is based at our headquarters in Hamburg or in our offices in Berlin or Dresden.

Minimum Qualifications and skills

• You hold a degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/ACCA is a plus)
• You have strong HGB and IFRS expertise and hands-on experience in preparing statutory financial reporting under HGB, including annual financial statements and management reports (Lagebericht)
• You bring several years of leadership experience in international accounting environments, managing teams and multi-entity closings
• You have a proven ability to drive process improvements, standardization, and efficiency initiatives
• You possess strong analytical and hands-on problem-solving skills, with experience in ERP and financial reporting tools
• You are an effective communicator and people-focused leader who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments
• You are fluent in German and have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)

What the role is about

• You lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing general ledger accounting team with 7 team members while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented culture.
• You oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring smooth execution and effective allocation of resources in line with business needs.
• You take full ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes across multiple international entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
• You ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, particularly HGB and IFRS, as well as internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• You oversee the preparation of statutory financial reporting under HGB, including annual financial statements and management reports (Lagebericht).
• You act as the key partner for annual financial audits, managing audit processes for both single entities and consolidated financial statements.
• You drive the harmonization and standardization of accounting policies, processes, and controls across international entities.
• You identify and implement improvements in efficiency, automation, and internal controls, contributing to broader finance transformation initiatives.
• You collaborate closely with cross-functional finance teams such as Controlling, Tax, and Treasury to optimize end-to-end financial processes.
• You serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and provide expert guidance on accounting-related matters to senior leadership.
