ChessRing is a growing community and events platform using chess to bring people together

across London and beyond. Through corporate events, community initiatives, and chess clubs, we are building meaningful connections through the game of chess.

As ChessRing continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Partnership Lead to help expand our network, generate opportunities, and secure new clients.

Role Overview

The Partnership Lead will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities for ChessRing. Working closely with the founder, this person will help build relationships with companies, organisations, and strategic partners that align with ChessRing's mission.

This role is ideal for someone interested in business development, sales, partnerships, and startups, and who enjoys connecting with people and turning conversations into opportunities.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A strong communicator with excellent relationship building skills.
  • Confident speaking with professionals, decision makers, and stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded and able to identify opportunities.
  • Proactive and self motivated.
  • Comfortable with outreach and sales processes.
  • A team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple conversations at once.
  • Interested in startups, business development, and partnerships.

Preferred Skills and Experience

While previous experience is not essential, the following would be highly beneficial:

  • Strong pitching and presentation skills.
  • Experience in business development, sales, or partnerships.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Experience using Apollo for lead generation and outreach.
  • Ability to conduct prospect research and identify ideal clients.
  • Confidence writing outreach emails and LinkedIn messages.
  • Experience building and maintaining CRM systems is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Client and Partnership Identification

  • Identify potential clients and strategic partners for ChessRing.
  • Research companies and organisations that align with ChessRing's services.
  • Build targeted prospect lists and maintain lead databases.

Outreach and Relationship Building

  • Conduct outreach through LinkedIn, email, and networking.
  • Build relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Arrange meetings and introductions for the founder when required.
  • Follow up with leads and maintain ongoing communication.

Sales and Pitch Support

  • Support the preparation of pitch decks and proposals.
  • Assist with presentations and client conversations.
  • Help communicate the value of ChessRing's services clearly and effectively.
  • Contribute ideas that improve conversion and client acquisition.

Data and Pipeline Management

  • Maintain accurate records of prospects and conversations.
  • Track outreach activity and partnership progress.
  • Use LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Apollo to generate and organise leads.
  • Help develop systems that create a repeatable partnership process.

Commission Structure

As this is a volunteer position, any commission structure or performance incentives will be discussed during the interview process and agreed upon based on responsibilities and outcomes.

Time Commitment

Flexible and dependent on availability, but ideally:

  • Weekly communication with the team.
  • Consistent outreach activity each week.
  • Participation in strategy meetings when required.
