Overview

The Technical Publications Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining digital technical documentation, instructional videos, and Al-generated work instructions using Canvas and other digital tools. This position captures video of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, repairs, and service procedures, then uses Al technology to generate standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and technical documentation.

Working closely with other departments, and Technical Publications, this position reviews Al-generated content for technical accuracy, grammar, clarity, and consistency before final release. The role supports factory training, customer service documentation, field service technicians, and continuous improvement by developing high-quality digital learning resources and technical publications.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and edit video of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, repairs, assembly procedures, and service activities.
  • Use Al-powered software (Canvas) to generate SOPs, work instructions, training guides, and technical documentation from video content.
  • Create instructional videos and digital training materials for factory employees, field service technicians, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Review, edit, and proofread Al-generated content for technical accuracy, grammar, spelling, clarity, and consistency.
  • Work with Engineering to verify technical content before publication.
  • Manage video files, digital assets, and documentation to ensure proper organization, revision control, and accessibility.
  • Support Manufacturing by developing training materials that improve employee onboarding, consistency, and process compliance.
  • Supplement installation, operation, maintenance, and service manuals with digital media and Al-generated documentation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Training to identify documentation needs.
  • Maintain document revisions and ensure compliance with company document control procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to documentation processes using Al and digital technologies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to technical documentation and employee training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Technical Communication, Multimedia, Information Technology, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in technical documentation, training, digital media, manufacturing support, or a related field.
  • Strong computer and technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new software and Al applications.
  • Experience with video recording and editing or the ability to learn.
  • Excellent written communication, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with document management systems and digital asset management.

Work Environment

  • Regular visits to manufacturing and testing areas to record videos, document production processes, and gather technical information.
  • Frequent use of computers, Al-powered documentation software, video recording equipment, and digital editing tools.
  • Fast-paced environment supporting multiple documentation, video production, and training projects with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Occasional travel within manufacturing facilities and to customer locations to capture equipment operation, service procedures, or installation activities.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all company safety procedures when working in manufacturing, testing, or customer production areas.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
