Pharmasave is one of Canada’s leading independently owned and operated community pharmacy banners, with more than 900 stores across the country. Since 1981, we have combined the strength of a national organization with the local insight and independence of community pharmacies.

Our National team develops programs, partnerships, tools, and services that help Pharmasave owners serve their communities and operate strong, sustainable businesses. This is an opportunity to lead the day-to-day People & Culture function, shape programs across the employee lifecycle, and provide practical, trusted guidance to leaders and employees.

The Opportunity

As People & Culture Manager, you will play a key role in supporting employees and leaders throughout the employee experience. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will guide day-to-day People & Culture priorities, deliver programs, offer practical advice, and help resolve a range of workplace matters with confidence and care.

This is a hands-on, collaborative role that brings together employee relations, talent and performance, payroll and benefits administration, workforce reporting, engagement, learning, policy governance, and regional partnership. You will work closely with internal team members and external advisors to find practical solutions, share thoughtful recommendations, and make sure complex or higher-risk matters receive the right level of support.

What You Will Be Accountable For

  • Own and continuously improve recruitment, onboarding, employee changes, and offboarding, with accurate records, clear controls, service standards, and process accountability.
  • Lead employee relations, performance management, workplace accommodation, policy-application matters, workplace reviews, and investigations within the role’s authority.
  • Own the annual performance-review cycle and support employee development, talent review, succession planning, leadership development, and learning programs, including Pharmasave LMS content, adoption, data quality, and reporting.
  • Lead the employee engagement survey cycle, employee communications, recognition activities, town halls, and internal events, translating participation and engagement trends into practical action.
  • Support payroll and benefits administration in partnership with the current team member, including payroll inputs, issue resolution, employee enrolment, and day-to-day updates.
  • Produce decision-ready workforce reporting on people metrics and organizational trends, maintaining clear data definitions, dashboards, and controls.
  • Own the relationship with external advisors, setting priorities, managing service quality and advice through to resolution, and adapting agreed recommendations to organizational needs.
  • Lead operational compliance with applicable employment legislation, organizational policies, and People & Culture governance practices, including policy reviews, approvals, communications, records retention, and audit readiness.
  • Act as the primary People & Culture contact for Regions and lead bi-weekly touchpoints supported by focused agendas, workforce insights, required decisions, and documented actions and owners.

What Success Looks Like

  • Employee engagement is supported by strong survey participation, timely action plans, consistent onboarding completion, and positive retention outcomes.
  • Talent programs are delivered effectively, including competitive time-to-fill results, timely performance-review completion, strong learning participation and completion, and progress on development and succession actions.
  • People & Culture operations are accurate, compliant, and timely, with reliable payroll, benefits, and HRIS data, consistent adherence to policies and processes, and workforce reporting delivered as required.
  • Leaders and employees receive responsive, practical support, with timely resolution of inquiries, and a positive experience with People & Culture programs and services.
  • Emerging workforce risks and opportunities are identified early, root causes are investigated, and practical responses are initiated or recommended.

What You Bring

  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, supported by a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, Commerce, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting employee relations and performance management processes, administering payroll and benefits programs, coordinating recruitment and onboarding, using HR systems, and producing workforce reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, employee lifecycle management, workplace investigations, talent and performance practices, policy governance, and HR compliance requirements.
  • The judgment to gather facts, assess risk and precedent, identify root causes, consult specialists where needed, and implement practical solutions that balance employee experience, business needs, and compliance obligations.
  • The ability to manage confidential information, communicate clearly, build effective working relationships, coordinate stakeholders, and follow through on decisions and commitments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, HRIS and workforce reporting tools, payroll and benefits platforms, employee engagement platforms, and Learning Management Systems.
  • A CPHR designation or progress toward designation is an asset.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, multi-department or multi-site workforces, and external HR consultants or advisory services is also an asset.
