About Piran Technology Group
Piran Technology Group is a rapidly growing UK advanced manufacturing business specialising in high-performance composite manufacturing and precision CNC machining.
Operating across the aerospace, defence, automotive, motorsport and advanced engineering sectors, we manufacture technically demanding components and assemblies for some of the world's most innovative engineering programmes.
As our manufacturing operations continue to expand, we are investing in operational excellence, advanced production analytics and continuous improvement.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Lean Manufacturing & Production Analytics Manager to drive improvements in manufacturing efficiency, productivity and operational performance.
This is a hands-on role combining Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, advanced data analytics and production planning.
Working closely with our Operations Director and production management team, you will be responsible for identifying manufacturing inefficiencies, implementing practical improvements and developing sophisticated analytical tools to monitor and optimise factory performance.
We are particularly interested in candidates from automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, aerospace or similarly advanced manufacturing environments where Lean principles, statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making are embedded in day-to-day operations.
We are looking for someone who can not only analyse manufacturing performance but actively improve it, using advanced data capabilities to identify opportunities, implement solutions and demonstrate measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, manufacturing flow and operational performance.
- Identify and eliminate manufacturing waste, inefficiencies, bottlenecks and non-value-added activities.
- Apply Lean methodologies including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standardised Work and structured root-cause analysis.
- Analyse production processes, labour utilisation, cycle times, equipment capacity and material flow to identify improvement opportunities.
- Establish and refine standard manufacturing times, labour requirements and production performance benchmarks.
- Lead continuous improvement projects, working directly with production, engineering and quality teams to implement sustainable changes.
- Quantify and demonstrate improvements through measurable reductions in manufacturing costs, labour hours, waste and production lead times.
Production Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Independently develop and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards providing detailed visibility of manufacturing performance.
- Utilise Power BI, Power Query, SQL, DAX and advanced Excel to develop sophisticated data models, automated reporting systems and analytical tools.
- Apply programming and scripting capabilities to automate data extraction, processing and reporting.
- Integrate manufacturing information from ERP/MRP systems, production trackers, labour records and quality databases.
- Develop comprehensive production KPIs covering output, labour efficiency, material consumption, scrap, rework, throughput and delivery performance.
- Apply statistical analysis, trend analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to identify process variation and performance improvement opportunities.
- Provide clear, actionable manufacturing intelligence to support operational decisions, capacity planning and continuous improvement.
- Strong technical data skills are essential. The successful candidate must be capable of personally developing complex dashboards, data models and automated analytical solutions, rather than simply interpreting existing reports.
Production Planning & Resource Optimisation
- Work with Production Managers to develop and maintain effective daily, weekly and medium-term manufacturing plans.
- Support the allocation and optimisation of labour, skills, equipment and manufacturing resources across production departments.
- Maintain accurate production schedules, resource plans and work-order tracking systems.
- Develop capacity models to identify resource constraints and assess the impact of changing production requirements.
- Monitor actual production performance against plan, identifying potential delivery risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Improve production planning processes through better data visibility, automation and resource utilisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who combines strong practical manufacturing experience with exceptional analytical and technical capabilities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and delivering measurable continuous improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, labour productivity, production flow and operational efficiency.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Power Query, SQL, DAX and Microsoft Excel, with demonstrable experience developing complex dashboards and analytical solutions.
- Strong coding or scripting capabilities, particularly for data manipulation, automation and reporting.
- Experience applying statistical analysis and structured problem-solving techniques to manufacturing performance.
- Understanding of production planning, capacity modelling and resource allocation.
- Ability to translate complex manufacturing data into practical operational improvements.
- A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to work effectively with shop-floor teams and senior management.
Desirable Experience
- Automotive OEM, Tier 1 automotive, aerospace, defence or other advanced manufacturing experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering background.
- Experience with Python, VBA or similar programming languages.
- Experience developing or integrating ERP/MRP and manufacturing information systems.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management standards.
What We Expect
This is a role where measurable results and practical improvements are essential.
We expect the successful candidate to take ownership of developing our manufacturing analytics capability while actively identifying and implementing opportunities to improve production performance.
You will be expected to spend time on the factory floor understanding manufacturing processes, working with production teams and challenging existing methods where improvements can be achieved.
Success will be demonstrated through:
- Measurable improvements in manufacturing productivity and labour efficiency.
- Reduced manufacturing waste, scrap, rework and production costs.
- Improved production planning, resource utilisation and capacity visibility.
- Advanced, reliable and automated manufacturing performance dashboards.
- A structured and sustainable approach to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to play a significant role in the development of manufacturing operations within a fast-growing UK engineering group.
You will have the scope to introduce advanced manufacturing practices, develop sophisticated analytical systems and directly influence operational performance.
We are looking for someone who brings both the practical manufacturing expertise of a Lean specialist and the technical capabilities of an advanced data analytics professional.
This job description is not exhaustive and may be amended to reflect the business’s operational requirements.
