Department: Plant Operations & Site Logistics Reports To: General Manager – Operations / Directors Job Summary We are seeking a results-driven, hands-on Plant Manager (Site Logistics Lead) to manage and oversee all on-site transport, loading, and vehicle dispatch operations at our key industrial plant sites (JK Lakshmi - Ahiwara, Jindal Steel - Angul, and Shree Cement - Baloda Bazar). The candidate will be responsible for managing daily truck entry/placement, weighbridge efficiency, loading speed, driver coordination, and ensuring zero plant demurrage and high daily tonnage dispatches.
Key Responsibilities1. On-Site Fleet & Dispatch Operations
- Manage daily vehicle placement, yard queuing, loading sequence, and dispatch throughput inside plant premises (JK Lakshmi, Jindal Angul, and Shree Cement).
- Coordinate closely with client plant/dispatch authorities, gate security, and weighbridge operators to minimise vehicle Turn-Around Time (TAT).
- Oversee safe loading operations for heavy industrial cargo: bulk/bagged cement, clinker, steel coils, rebars, billets, pipes, and raw materials.
2. Weighbridge, Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to weighbridge tare and gross weighment limits to avoid overloaded or underloaded trucks.
- Coordinate instant generation of Lorry Receipts (LR), Gate Passes, e-Way Bills, and client dispatch invoices.
- Prevent cargo damage, moisture loss, or weight variation during loading and tarping/securing.
3. Site Labor & Driver Supervision
- Supervise on-site supervisors, yard marshals, weighbridge staff, and loading/unloading labour crews.
- Enforce 100% compliance with plant safety regulations, mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards, and zero-accident protocols.
- Maintain discipline among commercial vehicle drivers regarding inside-plant parking, speed limits, and prompt exit post-loading.
4. Client Relationship & Daily Reporting
- Act as the primary single point of contact (SPOC) for plant dispatch heads and supply chain teams at JK Lakshmi, Jindal, and Shree Cement.
- Resolve immediate operational bottlenecks, breakdown recoveries inside plant premises, or paperwork issues.
- Submit daily dispatch reports detailing total tonnage moved, number of trailers/trucks loaded, pending queue, and plant downtime logs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Graduate in any stream / Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Automobile Engineering, or Logistics/Supply Chain.
- Experience: 6–12+ years of experience in plant logistics, industrial site dispatch, or fleet loading operations inside major Steel, Cement, or Heavy Industrial plants.
- Preferred Background: Direct working experience or familiarity with operations inside JK Lakshmi, Jindal Steel, or Shree Cement plants is a major advantage.
- Core Skills: Strong site leadership, labor handling, emergency problem-solving, yard management, and knowledge of commercial trailers and heavy vehicles.
