The role in one line
You keep our sales and operations teams up to date with every development from engineering, and turn Smart Operator’s capabilities and those developments into clear, accurate messaging for prospective clients.
About Smart Operator
Smart Operator built Ops, the Operator Performance System, for the people hospitality never built for. The servers, housekeepers, chefs, guides, porters, and shift leads who carry the standard in hotels, restaurants, lodges, bars, QSR kitchens, and safari camps. 81% of the industry's workforce is frontline. Less than 1% of its technology was built for them. We didn't find that acceptable.
Our mission: to build the system the frontline operator was never given, and make them better every shift.
We took this on because it was hard, and because it needed doing. The platform is developing quickly, and this role ensures that customers and our commercial team understand what it does and why it matters.
What you'll own
- Product messaging and positioning. You own how Ops is described: by capability, by buyer (for example GM, head of department or frontline operator) and by vertical (e.g. hotels, restaurants and QSR, lodges and safari camps). You maintain a single messaging framework that sales, marketing, customer success and our affiliate network all work from, so prospects receive a consistent account of the platform. Marketing owns brand voice and campaigns; you own the product descriptions, including those in our public platform documentation.
- The pre-sales kit. You produce and maintain the material sales needs before a deal closes: demo scripts, capability decks, solution briefs, one-pagers by vertical, and explainers on AI, data privacy and security for clients’ leadership and IT teams. You are responsible for content and accuracy, and the marketing team handles design and production. The CTO signs off all technical, AI and security claims, and internal commercial information is never included in client-facing material. As the product changes, you update or retire material accordingly.
- Keeping the business up to date. You are a link between engineering and the rest of the business. You attend sprint reviews and engineering demos, and make sure our sales and operations teams always know what has changed, what is coming and what it means for clients. Every significant release reaches sales, operations and customer success with a short brief covering what it does, who it is for and the difference it makes, before it reaches a client. You assess each release from a buyer’s point of view, so the same brief shapes how we present it to prospective clients and gives marketing what it needs to plan channels and campaigns.
- Sales and affiliate enablement. You make sure sales, customer success and our affiliates can explain and demonstrate Ops with confidence. This includes product walkthroughs, objection handling, competitor comparisons and a well-maintained materials library. Post-sale onboarding material sits with customer success, and affiliate enablement is led by the Affiliate Lead.
- Customer insight. You gather what prospects and clients understand, misunderstand and ask for, and share it with engineering, sales and leadership as evidence. Your insight informs product decisions, while the roadmap remains with engineering. You also contribute buyer insight to pricing and packaging discussions.
What great looks like within 6 months
- A single messaging framework for Ops is in place and used consistently by sales, marketing and affiliates
- The core pre-sales kit is complete (demo script, capability deck, a one-pager per vertical, and a security and data-privacy explainer), and each item is updated within one sprint of a material product change
- Sales, operations and customer success hear about every significant release from you, with a written update to ensure they’re fully up to speed, before any client does
- Sales can point to specific deals where your materials contributed to the win
- Engineering receives regular, evidence-based reporting on customer questions and points of confusion, and finds it useful
- New sales hires and affiliates can deliver a credible demo within their first month
