Job Description

About Xnomous Systems

Xnomous is a deeptech robotics and unmanned systems engineering company specializing in indigenous, next-generation autonomous platforms. We design, build, and deploy multi-domain robotic solutions—ranging from Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) and Micro UGVs to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Agri-bots, and specialized Defence Robotics. Driven by cutting-edge R&D and precision hardware execution, Xnomous transitions indigenous engineering designs into reliable, field-deployable autonomous hardware for high-stakes defence, precision agriculture, tactical surveillance, and industrial applications.

Role Overview

As a Production Supervisor & Floor Manager at Xnomous, you will lead daily shop-floor operations, assembly lines, and electro-mechanical integration for our complete robotics portfolio. You will orchestrate the assembly of UAVs, UGVs, tracked ground platforms, robotic payloads, and custom defence hardware. In this role, you will bridge R&D engineering and physical production—supervising technician workflows, enforcing 5S and Lean standards, maintaining stage-gate quality inspections, managing batch timelines, and driving continuous improvement to ensure zero-defect, on-time delivery of mission-ready unmanned systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shop Floor & Line Leadership: Supervise daily floor workflows, assigning tasks to technicians, assembly fitters, and wire harness operators to hit planned shift and batch targets.
  • Robotics & UAV Integration: Oversee electro-mechanical assembly, composite airframe integration, powertrain fitment, harness routing, avionics potting, and IP-rated chassis sealing.
  • SOPs & Work Instructions: Implement and enforce standard operating procedures, routing sheets, torque standards, and work instructions (WIs) aligned with engineering releases.
  • Quality Assurance & In-Process Inspection: Enforce stage-gate quality control (IQC, IPQC, OQC), including dimensional checks, crimping/soldering standards, harness continuity, and fit tolerances.
  • Material Flow & Inventory Coordination: Work with procurement and stores to maintain kit-readiness (BOM availability), prevent line stoppages, manage tool cribs, and stage WIP (Work-In-Progress).
  • 5S, EHS & Shop Safety: Enforce 5S standards, ESD-safe workstations, workshop safety protocols, hazardous material storage (LiPo/Li-ion batteries, resins/solvents), and regular tooling/machine maintenance.
  • Testing & Calibration Support: Assist test engineers with end-of-line checks, such as motor spin-ups, harness insulation testing, IP water-ingress tests, and preliminary run-ins.
  • Defect Tracking & RCCA: Document assembly non-conformance reports (NCRs), track rework, and lead Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) alongside engineering and QA.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • On-Time Delivery (OTD): Meeting daily production schedules and batch delivery milestones.
  • First Pass Yield (FPY): Driving high assembly yield while minimizing rework and scrap rates.
  • Shop Floor Efficiency & 5S: Achieving top-tier 5S workplace audit ratings, high labor utilization, and zero safety/ESD incidents.
  • Cycle Time Reduction: Lowering assembly hours per unit through line balancing, Kaizen, and tooling improvements.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Production/Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 2 – 5 years of hands-on experience in production supervision, shop-floor management, or assembly line operations within robotics, drones/aerospace, automotive, EV, or precision electro-mechanical manufacturing.
  • Technical Assembly Skills: Solid foundation in electro-mechanical assembly, harness crimping standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620 basics), torque specs, sheet metal fits, and composite handling.
  • Lean & Quality Methods: Proven track record applying 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and stage-wise QC checks.
  • Safety & Battery Protocols: Practical knowledge of ESD handling, lithium battery storage/charging safety guidelines, and general industrial EHS practices.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide technicians, manage vendor job-work timelines, and communicate cross-functionally with R&D and QA teams.

Why Join Xnomous?

  • Lead production operations for indigenous, field-deployable defence robotics and unmanned platforms.
  • Key role in transitioning prototype builds into high-rate standardized manufacturing lines.
  • High-ownership, fast-paced environment working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
