Experience: 10+ Years Role Overview: Key Responsibilities for Data BA/PM
1. Business & Requirements Management
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements related to data, reporting, analytics, and insights.
- Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to understand data needs and define success criteria.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for data engineering and analytics teams.
- Create and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), and user stories.
2. Data Analysis & Data Governance
- Analyse source-to-target data flows and identify data quality issues.
- Define data mapping, data lineage, and business rules.
- Support data governance initiatives by ensuring adherence to data standards and policies.
- Collaborate with data stewards and governance teams on metadata management and data cataloging.
3. Stakeholder Management
- Act as a bridge between business users, data engineers, architects, BI developers, and leadership.
- Conduct regular stakeholder meetings and provide project status updates.
- Manage expectations, prioritize requirements, and resolve conflicts.
4. Project Planning & Delivery Management
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and resource allocation strategies.
- Track project progress, risks, dependencies, and issues.
- Ensure delivery aligns with business objectives, budget, and schedule.
- Manage Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Reviews, Retrospectives) or Waterfall project milestones.
5. Data & Analytics Solution Delivery
- Support development of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Lakehouse’s, and Data Marts.
- Drive implementation of reporting and dashboard solutions using Power BI, Tableau, , etc.
- Ensure analytical solutions meet business KPIs and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate UAT and business sign-off processes.
6. Data Quality & Validation
- Define data quality metrics and validation rules.
- Coordinate data reconciliation and testing activities.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of delivered data.
- Work with engineering teams to address data defects and production issues.
7. Risk & Issue Management
- Identify project risks related to data availability, privacy, integrations, and compliance.
- Develop mitigation plans and escalate critical issues proactively.
- Monitor dependencies across multiple workstreams.
8. Reporting & Executive Communication
- Prepare project dashboards and executive-level status reports.
- Present project updates, risks, achievements, and recommendations to leadership.
- Communicate business value and expected outcomes from data initiatives.
9. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency.
- Recommend best practices for data management, reporting, and project execution.
- Drive lessons learned and process improvements across projects.
